We have blackout shades but our windows are weird so they don't really work. I also added blackout curtains and it's pretty dark with those closed, but some slivers of light do still come through. Fortunately, it hasn't seemed to bother DD so far. We only close the curtains at night, so for naps her room is dimmed but not dark.

ETA: when we visited my parents, my dad got some big pieces of cardboard and cut them to the size of the windows in the room DD was sleeping in (they don't have blackout shades or curtains in there). He used teeny nails to tack the cardboard in, but I think blue painters tape would also work as a non-marking alternative. The cardboard wasn't too attractive but worked really well, so it could be worth a try in a pinch.

We have black out shades but they are the wrong size since we have a big window seat, so light still ets through. DD hasn't had any issues though.

Fortunately, DS will sleep when it's light out. Just takes a lil more work than if it's already dark.

@Meridian: In a pinch, you can tape those thick black garbage bags to the windows to block all light! We did that at our old apartment as a short term measure, and it worked great!!

We have room darkening shades, but they aren't a perfect fit, so light comes in from the edges. Over the weekend, we put foil around the edges so it's better, but not perfect. I need to get a curtain asap!

We have blackout curtains. I even safety pin them together at the top and shove boxes at the bottom to block as much light as possible.

My LOs have always been ok with a little light! I want to get blackout shades for our master bedroom because DH sleeps during the day for overnight shifts.

Is this an issue for anyone's LO? Do you just keep their room completely dark? Or are they fine sleeping when it's still light outside?

We still have major bedtime issues (he just cries :crying: ), but I feel like it got worse after spring forward. Ugh.
