@Foodnerd81: I am so sorry to hear that! Maybe there was something in the water last night. I only posted when I wad out of the room praying for her to stop crying. Please let me know if you end up doing the sleep consult. I am going to try to do things on my own but on nights like last night, it seems like a small price to pay for some actual sleep!

I hope tonight is better for both of our Los!

@MamaCate: I had a similar night, though C is only three months. But every time I thought she was out, she would stir. I would have been right here with you on hb except I had to keep the room dark for her- no iPhone allowed :). I've been watching the Isis webinars too, and am considering paying for a sleep consult. I feel like I just need an expert to tell me what to do.

@edelweiss: @lemondrop: thanks for the sympathy and suggestions, ladies! I am still in a bit of a fog but somehow LO eventually stopped screaming and went back to sleep in her room. I am sure she is right next to the door (she has a floor bed). So I was able to shower and take a few minutes to get organized before facing the day.

I have really been trying to avoid CIO because LO is old (23 months) and stubborn. We had a really rough patch about a month ago when I was close to considering it, and then things got better. But last night made me feel like we have to do something....a friend sent me some Isis parenting webinars so I am trying to make time for those this week. And planning on picking up dinner to reduce my stress for the day...

I'll do the guest room bed if it gets really bad. One thing that worked really well the other day was to give him a coveted toy- his Little People cars are an instant distraction, and he fell asleep clutching one in each hand.

so sorry about the rough night! we were having some issues with our 9 month old recently and ended up letting him CIO, but i believe your LO is older so that's probably harder. hope things get better soon!

@Kemma: @Penny Lane: thanks for being there for me on the middle of the night and listening to me vent!

I gave up and decided to co sleep and she cuddled right on and passed out in the guest room. I slept a little but them around 5 she stirred and hubs came in to check on us. Since then she would not go back to sleep in the bed and said she wanted to go back to her room. So I put her on there and now she is screaming again. We usually don't get up for at least another hour, plus I was hoping she would sleep a little later to make up for the awake time in the middle of the night.

I am afraid it is going to be a long day as I am already exhausted and still have to deal with her and my work day. Sigh. What a way to start a Monday...

@Penny Lane: I don't know if if makes me feel better or worse to know I am not the only one. I just went in there after 20 minutes of crying, thought I had her out, only to have her crawl for the door when she picked her head up to see me ready to sneak out.

I just feel so defeated. No one is ever going to get any sleep!

@Kemma: we have done that as a last result in the past but I always sleep terribly. And at this point I am not sure she would go for it because we would have to move rooms...I am just at a loss on how to get her back down so I can go back to sleep. I thought she might be out but she just started yelling again. I guess if will go back in if it doesn't stop soon...

this actually happened to us a couple nights ago! I snuck in and out for 90 minutes, with him screaming as soon as I got to bed every time, and eventually gave up and hubs ended up sleeping on the recliner for a couple hours with LO on his chest until he was asleep enough to put down :-/

Would you be open to co-sleeping or bedsharing with her? I swear that sometimes these babies have a sixth sense for when we leave the room!

Lo woke at 1:15 yelling and calmed as soon as I went in. But since them she has not been able to settle. I rub her back and every time I think she is out and make a move for the door, her little head pops up again. I finally left after 45? minutes (no clock in the room) and let her yell for 5. When I just went back in she looked like she would settle but then started waking up again.

Is there anything I can do other than listen to her cry? We help her go to sleep and help with wake ups, but an hour is ridiculous! I have to work in the morning and DH has to be up in three hours. Luckily he is a heavy sleeper...
