i made one for LO and it was really easy! just measure the pillow, add a few inches allowance on the width (i only did 2 total for LO's pillow because i didn't want it to be easy for her to take out) and then sew it up! i hemmed the open edge first and then zipped up the sides. really easy and i'll do it again!

Super easy! I can hardly sew anything and have made 3 for G. I also made them pillowcases out of Halloween fabric for them to go trick-or-treating with!

@mediagirl: I haven't sewn one myself, but this provides really detailed instructions: http://www.purlbee.com/2014/04/20/corinnes-thread-pillowcases-for-every-bed/

Yes. It's stupid easy and you don't need a pattern. Just use the pillow to trace out a rectangle and sew on 3 sides. If you do it along the top edge of the sheet, you wont even have to hem the open edge and you'll still have the nice thick edge on your pillowcase.

I haven't but it would be incredibly easy. Use another pillowcase as a template. Put it on the sheet and cut out 1/2 bigger than the pillowcase. (Twice). I would even put the open part of the pillowcase along the top edge of the sheet so that you'd already have that finished and wouldn't have to do that side. Then just put right sides together and sew the 3 closed sides and flip!

Yes, I made one out of a sheet. You just measure how big it needs to be, and cut a rectangle with twice the width, plus a little extra for seams and pillow thickness. It should also be 2-3" longer than the pillow so it folds over on the side where it stays open. I just turned it inside out and sewed up three sides.

I bought a quilt with a matching sheet on Ebay last night. I really could care less about having one sheet so I thought I might be able to turn it into one or two pillowcases for a single bed. Do you have any tips or a pattern you follow when you make pillowcases? Have you ever made them out of a sheet? It's twin sized.
