I planned to absolutely veto supplementing with formula until my milk came in (as long as it came in normally), no pacifier or bottles to avoid nipple confusion when she was tiny, etc. But she was losing too much weight and needed the formula (we still fortify her breastmilk bottles for extra calories), she was too small to nurse well so had to have bottles, and they said the pacifier would encourage her to learn to suck (she struggled with even bottles at first, not just the boob). We actually got rid of it at 12 months, but then had to give it back because she was having some anxiety issues and it was a much cheaper/easier solution for us. I didn't want a mindless snacking kiddo but then it turned out my son hates eating and snacks in the playroom gets him to eat and drink way more than if we just sat him at the table. DH and I love food so our kid's boredom with food is a shocker.</p> <p>Be a scheduling sleep training mom.
