We did a diaper service for two months. I didn't like how one size diapers fit my son until he was about 11-12 pounds because he was more long and lean rather than chunky. This time around we are using disposables until he's big enough for cloth (or until I'm ready to tackle it as a mom of two).

No rental service available to me so we did disposables until her one size fit. She was really small so that was about 9 weeks for us. She hasn't had anything but cloth on her bum since then. I considered buying newborn cloth and selling after we are done with babies but I kept reading about babies out-peeing them before out growing them. I'm not sure what we will do with baby #2.

We did a rental with DD1, but we'll just do disposables for DD2.

I did disposables for the first few weeks. Between the meconium and the umbilical stump and just being a FTM I didn't want to commit to more than I could handle. If there had been a diaper service in my area though that would have been great.

We just did disposables until our BG 4.0s fit. LO was a long skinny banana baby so it took until 9-10 weeks I think before she just got pee everywhere when I tried them.

We are doing a cloth diaper service with covers and prefolds for our twins. Having to not deal with laundry for the first two months should help. I also have a bunch of newborn AIOs that I've gotten over the years on Black Friday sales. After the cloth diaper service, I'll use prefolds and covers during the day and AIO at night.

We used a diaper service with prefolds and thirsties covers. I was skeptical at first, but ended up really liking prefolds and the convenience of someone else washing my diapers and delivering fresh ones to my doorstep in those chaotic first weeks.

We borrowed a newborn stash from friends. I would suggest renting cloth ones or buying and then selling when you're done with them. Newborn babies go through SO MANY diapers, you'll save a lot of money using cloth. You can recoup a lot of the cost when you sell them.

We used disposables until she was 5 days old, then used covers and prefolds. Within the next day or two, I started trying my one size to check the fit. My girl has chunky thighs and a round belly, so all of my bumgenius diapers fit by 10 days old. Flips fit first, then 4.0s, freetimes last. She was 7lb 15 oz at birth. I have a couple of newborn all in ones I picked up used and age barely in them at 2 and a half weeks. So a newborn rental sadly would have been a waste for us.

We used up the diapers from the hospital and then some Honest NB diapers - but she was less than 2 wks when she fit into one size so it wasn't long. I had even bought a stash of used NB cloth diapers and she barely fit in them and out pee-d them! So next time I'm not even bothering to try (and then future LO2 will be tiny and I'll curse myself). But I hadn't seen the rentals before I planned things and it seems like a great idea!

What was your solution for the period between birth and when one-size cloth diapers really start to fit right? I had been thinking that I would fill the gap with (more Earth-friendly) disposables until baby is the right size for prefolds, but I just found this newborn rental service from a local store, which seems like a really good deal to me:
http://greenberriescompany.com/cloth-diaper-rentals/

What did you do, and what would you do given these options?

P.S. We are likely one-and-done, so investing in my own stash of newborn cloth doesn't feel like the way to go for me.
