@MamaG: it's the kind of behavior sequence that lends itself well to a behavior chart. Good luck!

@Mrs. Jacks: I went back and found it, thanks! I think I'm going to try this for our nighttime routine at home. We are deep in the throes of procrastination on going to bed. Maybe this can help make the routine stick and be more peaceful.

@T-Mom: Oh, I'm definitely going to try. I just want to set our LO up for success. She is very driven by praise and pride so I feel like this can work for her. Daycare basically gave me the idea, but said to come up with the chart and give them the rules and they will work with her on it throughout the day.

I'm limited in what I can do as we don't have much time together during the week, unfortunately.

These toddler 2/3's are hard stuff!

@MamaG: I'm noticing the things they do and rewarding them for it. My older one has been challenging me a lot and giving me a lot of attitude, so I give her a sticker when she does what I ask with a pleasant attitude and without complaining. Also she gets a small toy when she reaches a certain number. My younger one is very obedient and does what I ask him to do. His issues are more about hitting his sister and stuff like that, and it's hard to give stickers for *not* doing something like that since I can't predict when it would have happened (and anyway he doesn't like the stickers). We don't have a set number you can earn a day... but usually it's only one or 2 since I'm not with them for very long... I think it's worth a try, especially if day care is suggesting it?

@T-Mom: Are you keeping it vague? Letting them recognize their own positive behavior and requesting a sticker? Or noticing small positive behaviors each day for them? Is there a set number of stickers they can get each day?

I feel like my LO would need some structure to it, in order to be effective but all the examples I found aren't really appropriate for what we are trying to accomplish right now.

I am doing behavior charts just like what Mrs. Bee posted on the blog for my 2.5 and 5 yr olds. http://www.hellobee.com/2014/03/19/positive-reinforcement-sticker-chart/

It is working pretty well for my 5 year old. My 2.5 year old could care less. He is just not motivated by stickers on a chart! Time outs work a lot better for him! Good luck! It's a tough age.

Has anyone done a behavior reward chart for their toddler? Our 2.5 year old has really been struggling with listening lately. We find her deliberately disobeying and everything appears to be a joke/funny.

She had a particularly bad day at daycare today that I don't care to repeat. Her teacher recommended a behavior/reward sticker chart that they can use at daycare. I'm happy to do this, but everything that I looked at doesn't seem appropriate. And having it just for "listening" seems too vague to be effective.
