@Sophs Mama: if she's teething and you got rid of the pacifiers together, I'd lean towards the teething being the clinginess culprit. I hope she settles for you soon!!

@JoyfulKiwi: she is 22 months old, and is actually teething, though we didn't realise until we'd taken them away. We figure she was jamming them way into her molars to help relieve some pain. When I got rid of them I cut the tip off of one, and she tried putting it in her mouth but it wouldn't stay in obviously. I explained to her that it was broken and didn't work anymore so we had to put it in the garbage. She hesitated a couple times before putting it in the garbage herself. So it wasn't a mystery as to where it went. She's doing a bit better today however.

We haven't taken our sons pacifiers yet, but I'm wondering how old your daughter is? Is she maybe teething? It might be something else that's making her clingy, but totally possible it's the pacifier. Did you tell her about it or just toss them quietly? She might be "grieving" and sad/confused about where they went?

I fear this will happen when we take away my son's pacifier. When he's cranky and clingy, it's the only thing that can comfort him. My guess/hope is that she will adjust after a few more days. I hope it passes quickly!

We took away our daughters pacifiers two days ago after we found a couple chewed to bits. Sleep hasn't been too bad, but I've found that she is extremely clingy and has been in a bad mood almost all day.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't know how to fix it. She isn't attached to any sort of stuffed animal, and she could take or leave her security blanket.

I'm at my wits end. I'm 29 weeks pregnant, and I'm hoping that this can be resolved before baby girl #2 arrives!
