My mom kept telling me that it would get easier when LO reached about 3 months. And it really really did. And as she gets older it keeps getting easier. Of course there are new and different struggles and different things get harder..... but I think what makes it better is that as they grow up they can do things that make it more worth it.

@knittingmama: I'm with you! My LO is 10 days old today and I have had a few bouts of crying today. BFing is really difficult for me... my nipples are ripped to shreds and I just find it boring. He is insatiable and wants to nurse constantly! I do not enjoy being a couch potato and I feel like I'm trapped on the couch! I dread him waking up from sleeping because I know he'll just want to feed. Last night he was up really freq to BF. My DH went back to work last Thurs for half days when LO was 6 days old and back to full-time today. On top of it all, my mom and older sister, who live out of state, keep commenting that they don't remember it being that hard...and telling me to just give him a bottle...Grrrr!

Everyone says it gets way easier and it's SO hard to believe when you're in the early weeks, but I promise it's true. For the first 5 weeks I cried every day, sometimes 5 or 6 times a day just from being so overwhelmed and tired. I might be on the extreme end of things, but I think it's incredibly tough on everyone. Hang in there! This is a great place to find support.

I can tell you that my daughter is now 11 weeks old and the difference is incredible. She sleeps up to 7 hours a night, smiles at me, coos and makes sounds and is starting to get so curious about the world around her. I'm starting to enjoy being with her so much now and I look forward to getting up with her each morning. There was a time when I didn't, as sad as that is to say :(

Those early weeks were so hard. I kept saying to my friends who are moms, "You didn't tell me about THIS!" I don't think anything anyone says prepares you for how hard it is during those first weeks. By the time she was 2 weeks old I was with her all day by myself and recovering from a C-section. I pretty much thought my butt was going to fuse with the couch.

But it's almost 4 months later and I feel like she's growing up so fast! I want her to slow down.

I can't believe I'm saying this because I didn't believe it myself, but it will get better! Just wait until she stares into your eyes and smiles for real, not because of gas. You're going to melt. :)

It's so hard in the early weeks, but it gets easier! I remember not eating my first meal until 1pm, not showering, or brushing my teeth even!
Hang in there..!

It is hard in the beginning, but it gets much better soon, just hang in there while your baby adjusts to life outside the womd and starts to differentiate between night and day and sleeps better. I was very frustrated in the first month, but not she is almost 4 months old and things are much better.

Awww I'm sorry. I felt the same way! It WILL get better! :) My husband had to go back to work after a week, and works 2nds, so I was home alone after 3. It was definitely hard, and I shed a lot of tears, but now we've got it down pat! :)

This is my first baby—she turns 3 weeks tomorrow, and today is the first day I am home w/o my husband or my parents helping. We're doing okay, but I find caring for her and dealing with her sleep (or lack thereof!) so hard!

I'm just overwhelmed and looking to reach out to the other new mamas on the board.
