My biggest problem in the first trimester was that I never knew what I'd be able to stomach or be in the mood for on a given night, or even afternoon, for lunch. I'd be in the store and think, ooh, this will be good, only to get home or take it out the next night and it would make me gag just thinking about it. However, I didn't have as many food restrictions as you, so I'm sure it's even harder! Even at 21 weeks, I've been having a hard time planning meals-- between trying to decide what I want, and having the energy to get to the grocery store... we have been having a lot more prepared stuff that usual.

I totally know what you are saying. I've got major heartburn, too, so I was trying to avoid a lot of trigger foods that my husband loves and that we used to eat regularly. And I was crazy craving carbs and milk, which I found I should cut back on when I failed my 1 hour glucose test (luckily I passed the 3 hour). I was a mostly vegetarian prior to pregnancy, but now I'm eating chicken and fish 4-5 nights a week just to supplement my meals and so that I have SOMETHING to eat. It is tough!!! Can't wait until I can get back to a more normal diet - only 3 months to go - and in the end I know it is worth it when I think about my little girl.

I swear! Maybe it is just be and the unfortunate food restrictions I have had to impose on myself. Due to intense and painful gas issues I have had to cut out a vast majority of my favorite veggies... Goodbye beans, cauliflower, broccoli, and cucumber to start the list. Oh and since my heartburn is really bad too (though it has gotten a TON better with Prilosec) I have to cut our spicy food or acidic, which pre-pregnancy I was IN LOVE with. Sorry Spicy lemon chicken tacos... I will see you again soon! And, not that I should eat it anyway, no greasy for fried food either. Those I was told to cut out completely per my OB to solve some of these problems. And red meat? Not only do I have to overcook the darn stuff (I want my steak still mooing!) but I have to super limit how much I can eat due to, erm, slow moving digestion that leaves me unable to go for days.

And all of that is not including the normal pregnancy no no's...

I keep telling myself, 5 1/2 more months....

Anybody else have a harder time planning meals during pregnancy? How did you manage? If I have to see one more cracker or eat one more insanely boring meal, I might scream.
