@MsHangry: I had th exact same experience. I have a friend with a similar frame as me who had her daughter a few days ahead of me. She didn't use a binder and even though we are both at similar weights, she still complains she has a gut. My tummy is pretty darn flat so I often think it must have been the BB!

I used the bamboo belly bandit. Even bought the next size down when the first got too big after about three weeks. I dont know what I would look like without it but my stomach is as flat as it was before pregnancy and there really isn't any loose skin. I wore it all the time day & night until about five weeks.
It certainly felt very good the first few weeks to be "held together" when walking or even sitting to nurse.

I used one with both. Regular with DS1 and stopped using it probably after the first couple weeks. This time I had two sizes, and also the Bamboo ones (much softer) and am still using the smaller size at almost 6 wks pp, when I remember... Same as previous users, it still rolls over on one side for me, it's not good for form fitting tops, but otherwise it's great at holding the smoosh in and giving my back support. I bought them second hand so I didn't mind buying the two sizes.

I have an original belly bandit and I wore it off an on the first 2 weeks pp... Then it was too big! Next baby I will get the next size down, but I'm already close to my original shape now, so I'm not going to spend the money this time!

Agree with @catlady and @babytsmom It was a little bunchy and visible through some clothes but I was mostly at home anyway so I didn't care. I felt pretty good when I wore it, it made me feel supported and not as loose and flabby as I felt. I didn't really sleep in it (I was wayyyy too hot and having those great sweaty sleeps that happen...)

I used belly bandits both times and they worked great for me, helped to flatten my tummy super quickly...It was especially nice to feel "held in" for those first few weeks that I carried extra weight and had a jiggly belly:(. I think the bamboo is more comfy than the regular BB for sure. But the regular one still does a good job.

I just wore mine during the day this past time, I didn't usually sleep in it. I wore flowy tunic tees with leggings so no one could really see it.

I actually have 2 BB to sell in classifieds, this just reminded me!

I plan on using belly binding this time - I haven't really looking into it yet, but seems to be a more traditional way of doing things.

I agree with everything @catlady said. I only wore it when I was in the house (which, in the early days, was most of the time!) because it was pretty bulky and I couldn't wear it under normal clothes. However, I do think it helped a lot so I don't regret the purchase. Even though it was pretty pricey for something I only wore for a few weeks.

I used the belly bandit BFF (which is supposedly better for short women). I had a love/hate relationship with it. It was uncomfortable and I was so glad to be done with it, plus I needed two different sizes so it was expensive. I also couldn't really wear it outside, since it showed beneath my clothes. However, it did work, and I was happy with the way I looked at 6 weeks. I think I will look for another brand the next time around. My old ones got all creased around my waist, so I'm not even sure if I could re-use them and still get the same effect. I definitely think all the belly band products are better for someone with a longer torso than mine.

Only two weeks post partum, so I can't comment on the effectiveness yet... but I have the original belly bandit and especially last week it made me feel human. It held everything in and even helped support my achy back. It does show under form fitting clothes but not too badly if the clothing is dark. It bunches a little so I just tug it down. I generally wear it all day and halfway through the night. Note- don't take it off while LO is sleeping nearby- the velcro is loud!!!

I used a belly bandit and found it pretty comfortable. It really held everything in (and in the beginning, there was a whole lot to hold in!) and made my middle feel supported. I honestly didn't wear it constantly day and night...I never wore it at night but wore it during the day, and not even every day. Like anagram said, it does show through clothes if you're wearing something form fitting, so I would just pick and choose when I wore it. Obviously, it's impossible to know if it affected the overall outcome of my stomach or if it would have been the same without it, but, I did end up with a flat stomach at 4/6 weeks. I did hear some people say the regular belly bandit can be a bit itchy...I got the bamboo one and didn't have any issues with it being scratchy.

@Mrs D: with my first LO, I bought 2 cheap postpartum girdles (in a medium and a small) and thought they worked great, but always wondered if the pricier belly bandit was better. Well, this time I had a friend give me a Bamboo Belly Bandit, and it's not any better. At all. Both girdles have the same "issues"--they crease, show under clothes, and cause back fat above the girdle (another reason you can't wear it out and about). So I would only wear any of them around the house without visitors. Except the belly bandit is thicker and even less breathable, and about 3 times as expensive.

So, I'm glad I didn't spend money on it myself. Here is the cheaper one I bought the first time--I wear it more often than I wear the belly bandit. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BF2MM44/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_3?pf_rd_p=1944687502&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001T4WJO6&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1TYGJHQTRZ6JRHT05N9K

The only difference is the belly bandit is smaller--the medium is about equal to the small of the Underwords girdle.

So - with DD I used nothing until a co-worker told me I was crazy. I went online and bought something cheap and it was a piece of crap. Not comfortable, rolled down when I sat, just awful. I could have never imagined sleeping in it.

Now - after 1 LO, I am thinking maybe I should try investing in something nicer this time around to help with the recovery and try to prevent adding to the excess skin I have from my lovely DD.

Anyways reviews on the Belly Bandit or similar product for postpartum waist support?
