I took mine out after 11 years the day I got my first BFP, I still have a prominent hole 3 years later. I can't fit a ring through it anymore (most closed on the inside but still both openings are open, but it's there and i don't see it going away.

@thismustbetheplace: I wish I never got mine too! ugh. Mine was out for 12 years before I got pregs and I only had it in for a year or so. It never fully closed either and my skin got so stretched while pregnant the hole kind of ripped open and was a very painful cut.

@LindsayInNY: Like @Mrs. Jump Rope: said, the navel one never closed for me.....and when I saw a plastic surgeon in my mid-twenties to see if I could get it closed, he said to wait until after I had a baby to see what it did. I just had a baby-it's just as noticeable as before. Ugh, I wish I could talk to my 18-year-old self and talk her out of this piercing! Mine was only in for about a year, too!

I took it out at the end of my first trimester because I didn't want it catching on anything. It has partially closed but isn't wide enough to put a piercing back in.

I took mine out at 26 weeks. I would randomly put it back in just to see if it closed through the rest of the pregnancy. After I had my daughter, the hole was so large that I didn't think a normal bar would work - like the ball would slide through? So I just said bye to the belly button ring, even though it hadn't closed. Well, once my stomach shrunk, the skin tightened, and I had my normal body back (about 4 months) - the hole became normal size too - it was just stretched like the rest of my skin. By then, it had grown in enough that I couldn't put it back. I wish I had just continued it put it in randomly and then could decide whether I wanted to wear it or not.

I took out my bb piercing at age 28 after 10 years of having it in (2.5 years before LO was born). I'm sure I'm the worst case scenario but daaaamn I wish I'd never done it in the first place. The hole never closed and it got really stretched during my pregnancy so it's sort of... floppy? And just like my belly button, the inside skin turned dark brown as my tummy shrank back to normal size so now it's this gross dark brown saggy hole. I am seriously more self conscious of that stupid hole than the rest of my post-baby body. I don't think keeping the piercing in would have helped, and my belly skin was so tight by the end that I imagine it would have hurt quite a bit. Hopefully no one has it as bad as me though :bummed:

@LindsayInNY: I took mine out because it got uncomfortable pretty early with belly bands and maternity pants.
The underside of the piercing turned into a stretch mark! I think because it's scar tissue (like every piercing is) it didn't have any elasticity. It doesn't look weird now but the underside droops a bit, lol

I've had a belly piercing for 15 yrs, and took it out at around 23 weeks. I definitely could have kept it in longer, as I haven't popped yet at 30w. DH was rubbing my belly last night and commented on my funny little hole. I assume that I would be able to get a ring through it still, although I haven't checked. I'd planned on getting one of those clear, flexible bars for pregnancy, but in the end, it didn't seem worth the effort.

I'm on pregnancy number 2 with a belly button piercing. My belly button never popped with number one and hasn't for number two (29 weeks now). For number one I got a pregnancy plastic piercing which was nice and I took it out the day we went into the hospital and put it back when we got home. This time I have a regular ring with one ball missing (it's been missing since before I was knocked up). So far no issues. Some weird stretch marks but that's my whole belly and the ring has always been for me and not shared. I will take it out before birth probably.

I have no obvious advice, but I took my belly button ring out 2 years before we started ttc (when I went off BCP) and 5 years later that damn hole is still there. I can't get a ring through it anymore but it looks hilarious.

I took mine out mid-pregnancy with J. It returned to looking the same when I lost the baby weight but I couldn't get a piercing through it still. I thought I'd miss it more but it seems like a normal move from youth to adulthood not to have it. My piercing hole looks really funny right now since I'm so big because of the twins.

@LindsayInNY: I took mine out over a month ago, but it makes me feel naked, so I found a flexible clear pregnancy one on Amazon for $5 that I'm using in the meantime. The hole started looking flat as I grow and that freaked me out a little lol not sure I'll be keeping this one in the whole time though.

I didn't have mine in for most of the pregnancy so it wouldn't get in the way of the Doppler, exams etc but I could still awkwardly put it in up to 28 weeks (it was not cute though lol!) My belly button hasn't popped, but the holes from the piercing look like they're getting a little crooked as my belly button flattens out. Some people use those long clear tubes to maintain the piercing but it wasn't important enough to me so I'll just see what happens after the pregnancy.

I've had my belly button pierced for 13+ years now. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and still have it in.

If your belly button was still pierced when you got pregnant, when did you take it out? Mine doesn't seem to be growing out at all yet but it's definitely hanging looser as my stomach grows out during the day.
