Lo did the same thing! If I tried putting her down in her bassinet she would instantly wake up so having her sleep on my chest was the only way to get any rest. It didn't last too long, and now she's 6.5 months and I miss her falling asleep on me! So enjoy the snuggles :)

To be honest I wasnt comfortable having DD sleep on her stomach in her crib until 5 months. At that time she was a good roller and had good head, arm, neck and back strength to move if she needed to.

@shopaholic: it's funny because now that she is 13months, I'd kill to have her snooze on my belly for a while!!! She's not snuggly at all and I miss those times. Apparently she fell asleep in my MIL's arms on Friday afternoon and I was SOOO jealous! lol!

@prettylizy: lol! Love this! I don't really mind it becaus it's so nice to be all snuggly with her. Just scared like @Smurfette: that we are setting ourselves up for a bad habit.

Glad to hear no one has like a 6 month old still sleeping on top of them all night! Lol!

N is a tummy sleeper and has been from the beginning. I worried at first and he slept on us a lot. I learned that DH and I were both tummy sleepers as kids. ( I still am. ) The ped just says to leave him be. I still check on him a lot, DH thinks I am crazy.

LO naps on me pretty much all day. At 8 weeks, I've been working toward getting him to take a nap or two in the crib or RnP. But he sleeps all night, swaddled, in the crib. He loves to sleep on his tummy, but he also tends to bury his face and I worry that he'll suffocate. If he didn't do this and had problems sleeping on his back, I would definitely let him sleep on his stomach, though. I really don't think it's as big a deal as the "professionals" make it out to be, as long as she can move her head from side to side.

I was a bed, a milk machine, a couch, and poop station until about 6w. The kid wouldn't sleep unless I had him in my Chet. I was horrified I'd drop him if I fell asleep so basically I didn't sleep. Ever.
Don't worry though, honestly, my son grew out of it. He was doin' 10h a night at 10w and 12h a night at about 12w in his crib. He just....grew up!

I am going to ask the pediatrician at R one month appointment about this. I think she is a tummy sleeper too!

DS has always slept on his tummy. He simply will not sleep on his back. We have a snuza monitor that he wears to give us peace of mind.

I sometimes pull my kid up on my chest to take a nap after he wakes up to feed at 7am. It gets my husband -- and sometimes me -- another hour or so of sleep! It's actually one of my favorite parts of the day since my baby is so warm and cuddly.

DS was in the NICU for the first 15 days of his life, and they let him sleep on his belly there, cause of the monitors on him and everything. After about 6 weeks at home, with him fighting naps, I let him take naps on his belly, as long as I was awake and checked on him every few minutes. He slept great. Almost 6 years later, he still is a belly sleeper.

My Lo would still prefer to nap on me I I'd let him all the time (4 months). Cutting out all dairy and chocolate completely stopped his reflux (and cleared up his excezma). I let him have a Aden anais security blanket recently but so far I'm not comfortable letting him sleep on his tummy until he rolls himself that way. I might change my mind depending on how long it takes and how much stronger he gets!

I'm all for doing what works but for us, he got so big so fast it was simply impossible for me to keep letting him sleep on me all the time :) my back couldn't take it!

We started letting her nap on her tummy at 10 weeks. For 8 weeks before that she had been fighting naps like crazy and would only sleep in the carrier or being held. The first time I put her on her tummy she napped for 3 hours. The heavens opened up, and I heard angels singing. At night, she was great on her back while she was swaddled, but we started putting her on her tummy when we swaddle weaned at 4.5 months.

I've always let K take a nap or two on my chest each day since she seems to sleep more peacefully that way. This week since I'd suspected and confirmed acid reflux, spitting up, and thrush, I've been letting her sleep on my chest/tummy every night for the better part of the night. She sleeps longer and deeper that way for sure. The pediatrician said I could let her sleep on her tummy, but I'm still scared. I tried putting her on her tummy finally in the bassinet so I could use the restroom and she ended up squirming like she wanted to crawl! So I'm back to being her bed. I partly don't mind because she's just so cute and snuggly and it's the sweetest thing when she wants to use my boob as her pillow! Lol! But am I setting us up for bad sleeping habits down the line? If you have a tummy sleeper, when did you start letting her/him sleep on their stomach?
