They're plastic and come with 3 compartments that you can take out. We have some of the lunch cube, bento cube, bento box, bento lunch, salad kit, and a variety of individual containers. I like the low price point and that they are still easy to use. I actually reach for them more in the summer because I feel like we have a higher chance of losing them or breaking them while on the go. I need to buy 3 and I can't justify $90 on lunchboxes right now. Bonus points for a grown up lunch box as well. </p>
