Late to the party, but we stayed at Rosewood Tucker's Point without kids last August/Sept., and I was surprised by the number of families with (well behaved) kids of all ages we saw. I do feel like a lot of people go to the higher end resorts with the expectation of privacy/quiet, so you might get some side-eye at toddler meltdowns, but if your child is a pretty decent traveller, I think you'd be just fine. FWIW, Rosewood was beautiful and I would go back if what you're looking for is just relaxation, food, golf, and food/beach time. No kids' activities. Similar to other posters, there was a shuttle into Hamilton.

We stayed at the Fairmont Southampton last October (without kids) and liked it but as others have said it's challenging with no rental car to get around. Cabs are plentiful but expensive. The food at the hotel was also expensive and got old so we wanted to get out at times. There is a free ferry to Hamilton and we took that in for dinner and walking around one night. I really liked Bermuda but I'm not sure I would go with my kids.

Agree with @mrswin: .... I stayed st the Fairmont Southampton a few times as a kid, an older kid though, like middle school aged... the hotel and grounds are beautiful. If you just want to hang at the hotel pool and beach and be very low key it will be fine with a kid! You could head into Hamilton to explore a day or two also, I think the hotel has a shuttle.

@YogiRunner: Keep in mind that the reason the flights are cheap to Bermuda and the Caribbean in September and October is because that is hurricane season.

Bermuda tends to be a very adult destination but the Southampton Fairmont has lots of amenities and a great beach so I'm sure there would be things to do.

Bermuda also has a great aquarium

Bermuda is awesome, but not particularly kid friendly. Since you can't rent a car you eith r have to go car seat-less in a taxi on the windy island roads to get around or take the bus/ferry everywhere which is exhausting. I've been to the fair mount Southampton and there are a number of children, but mostly older school age kids.

How late in the fall? Remember it's pretty far north. Same weather as outer banks NC (sorta). Pretty iffy past September as it might be too cold
I've heard the big hotels there are nice, if expensive. The fairmont and Tucker's point are really nice and they don't prohibit kids but I wouldn't say they are particularly kid friendly.
I'd look at the Caribbean. Plus you can get away with going in the fall months really easily

Check out Turks and Caicos. It's always high on our list. People looooove beaches, seven stars, grace bay club. We've been to Turks several times (we've started renting a villa there for several years now so I can't recommend a hotel other than point grace, we stayed there once)
The flight from the NYC area is super easy. Nice grocery stores, good hospital on island if you need that, some shops are walkable if you stay on grace bay.

@ShootingStar: You might be right... we're having a heck of a time finding kid friendly resorts (there are like 3), so maybe it's just more geared towards rum swizzles sans kids. We picked it because it's easy and cheap flights for a quick getaway. But maybe we'll expand our search to the Caribbean.
Thank you!

I think Bermuda's supposed to be better for adults only? Have you considered the Bahamas or Caribbean?

We are considering a trip in the fall and have never been. We'll have our little one in tow (who will be about 18 mos). Looking for low-stress yet fun activities and places to stay. Easy access to a beach and a kid friendly pools would be fantastic.

Go!
