Cardio and super low carb diet is the only way to lose flab. I'm very skinny but always gained weight in my middle section, noticeably. I finally got sick of it and cut grains. I still eat complex carbs via fruits and veggies but that's it. For cardio, you don't have to do the hours of running on a treadmill. 25 minutes of HIIT cardio 3x a week is enough, which is not a lot at all. Even if you don't stick to this extreme dieting, it's fascinating seeing your body change after looking a certain way your whole life. Weight loss or changing body composition is a true science. Try playing with your macros (macronutrient ratios). Now that I'm down to 13% body fat it's messed up my cycle. I would easily gain a lil pooch to get pregnant now. We just started TTC. Oh the irony. ;)

@mrs. bee, no one says you have to live without it :) I still eat rice (i'd much rather have rice than pasta!!!) but it's more of a once-a-week treat than a nightly side dish.

Ugh burpees. I freaking love/hate burpees.

@Mrs. Bee: I actually think rice is okay. I find that cutting out/down bread and pasta is good enough for me. If you know that carbs are something you can't live without, cutting it out just won't be sustainable!

Burpees.

Seriously, burpees worked my abs like crazy. You get the cardio and the ab workout. But yes, you need to do cardio if you want to get rid of the flab!

@Mrs. Bee: I work out abs everyday and have seen great results- but! As soon as I eat any grains, I bloat again and my tone is gone. I so strongly believe that a grain free diet has to be in place first for a truly flat stomach. Only then did all the ab/floor-work give me results.

@Mrs. Bee: I've seen lots of before & afters of P90x where people got rid of pot bellies, but they were doing the whole program (tons of cardio and weight lifting, too) and eating a good diet! You're Paleo, right? Or a modified version? I think your diet would be fine, but you have to add the cardio, too.

@Mrs. Bee: you have to do cardio to really get rid of it, and eat a clean diet. just doing abwork won't work if there's a layer of flab above your ab muscles. :(

@Mrs. Bee: The only time I've really had a super flat stomach was when i stopped eating carbs. Even when I used to work out a lot my stomach never got super flat.

Planks! I do lots of variations - lifting a leg up for 10 seconds at a time and alternating, moving hips from side to side (try to get one hip to the ground)

You prob don't want to hear it but 30 ds is pretty good. I'd also do brazil butt lift to tone..it'll help abs too even though focus is on legs/butt-it'll help core.

I keep saying I'm going to do the 30 day shred but just haven't been able to work up the motivation. We've been going out every day since it's summer, and the heat and humidity are draining me.

But none of my shorts fit and it's either buy a bunch of new shorts, or get working on this belly. I've never had much success losing belly fat. I've always had a pooch even pre-kids and couldn't lose it no matter how hard I worked out.

Of course now post 2 kids it's worse than ever. What are the best workouts to tighten up my abs? They are so sad! I saw a woman today wearing a bra top, and she had a 6 pack. Maybe I would wear a crop top too if I had abs like hers!
