I use Beaba silicone trays and other random silicone ice cube trays and cupcake trays. I just made a bunch today. I don't like to keep them in the trays though because they take up too much space. I pop them out and put them all in freezer storage bags. They get a little bit of crystals, but I have way too many "cubes" to keep them all in containers. Plus this way, I can mix and match cubes for variety really easily.

I use the OxO tot food cube tray ,.. Basically like an ice cube tray but the pieces pop out MUCH easier.

Then once they're frozen I put them in a ziplock bag.

I also have the 2oz OXO containers that I use to defrost the cubes in the fridge.

Thanks so much, ladies! I'm thrilled to know that ice cube trays are really so good to use! I think I'll still need some kind of containers for the times he eats at daycare, but for the most part I'm thinking the ice cube trays are the way to go! And now I finally have a reason to actually buy the silicone ones instead of just playing with them at the store :silly:

I froze purees in ice cube trays and put them in Ziplock bags. It was perfect and easy to make all kinds of meals without worrying about running out of containers. I also used those teeny tiny Glad round containers (2 oz or 4 oz) if I really wanted to use containers which was rare since I would have to take it out to defrost and warm up in a separate porcelain bowl or a little pot.

Another vote for regular old ice cube trays. Like @swurlygurl: I thought they were great for making combos. Plus you can get them cheap just about anywhere.

Ice cube trays then stored in zip top bags. I'd squeeze as much air as possible out but they'd still get ice crystals, I never worried too much about that.

Another vote for silicone ice cube trays. Once the purees are frozen, you can pop the cubes out and store them in a ziplock or a big Tupperware container.

I've been using these "Baby Food and Breast Milk Trays" and they work well, but basically just a little fancier then regular ice cube trays.

I did the ice cube trays too. Worked great for the 4 months I used them! Plus, it was super easy to make combos as I wanted. So I'd have a gallon bag of all the various purees (squash, carrot, peas, banana, berries, apple, etc), and I would just pick a random 2 or 3 to make sure she was getting a variety - no pre-mixing required!

@mrsjyw: @Mamaof2: those look great! Thank you! I'm sure I've seen those and don't think they were too expensive :)

@sunny: silicone brownie pan = genius! I always play with those when I see them at target or something (I'm severely baking challenged and so have never actually purchased any haha)

@jetsa: I knew I'd heard something about ice cube trays! You've just confirmed it :) I would've been concerned about stuff getting stuck, too, so thanks for the reassurance!

Plastic Ice cube trays! I got like 2 for $2. Just cover with plastic wrap and freeze and then pop out an hour or two later and put in a ziplock. When you are ready to feed defrost in microwave for 10-30 seconds or let thaw in fridge.

I read online that ice cube trays yield 1 ounce portions but I've never measured. Also I totally thought they'd stick and we've tried fruits, veggies, and chicken and nothing has stuck yet.

We used a silicone brownie pan to freeze into small portions and then we popped them out and stored in ziplock bags.

While things were freezing, we put the brownie pan in a Pyrex with a lid, but you could also cover with foil or wrap.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001T4URXG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1396373024&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40

The oxo stuff looked nice but this was way cheaper. $10 for the brownie pan and we already had the Pyrex.

I've tried to search and find any older threads with no success -- does anyone have any recommendations for babyfood storage containers that they really liked?

I'm making LOs food and picked up a set of containers that I'm using but don't care too much for. They have too much space between the 2oz (max fill) mark and the top/lid so there's a lot of air and when I freeze them there are ice crystals on top of the food inside. Not that that's a big deal, I guess, but I also just don't really like them!

There seem to be so many out there, some pretty expensive, and before I invest in more I want to know I'm going to like them! Also, if you have an even better way to freeze/store baby food (ice cube trays?) let me in on the secret! <3
