We didn't use anything. He fell out of bed for a few weeks at first, but he never even woke up, we'd just find him sleeping on the floor. After those first few weeks he figured out how to sleep back against the wall side of the bed and didn't fall out anymore. We thought about buying a rail, but figured he'd need to learn how to sleep without one at some point. Might as well do it while his bed was so close to the floor.

We didn't get the conversion kit with our crib, & the toddler rail is $99

Any recommendations for one you liked for use with a crib (with front taken off, obviously).

Looking at this, but not sure if it would work?
