She adores it, and will definitely be riding it for another year (she is turning 3 next month), and I anticipate she will move straight to a pedal bike without training wheels. Her balance is great. The reviews on twowheelingtots.com were really helpful in deciding which bike to get. Like @lamariniere said, weight is key. If you don't want a balance bike, I'd do a tricycle. Or have you thought about a scooter? It has a few conversions we liked: a removable parent steering rod, foot pegs for the younger years, a basket, and zip backpack. We have lots of hills in our neighborhood so we didn't feel comfortable with a balance bike yet.</p> <p>He loves it! It's a strider that we got from goodwill. Skuut bikes are cheaper but were too tall for a 2 year old. They can use them for a few years, really. It's pretty neat to see them get going on one! I know a lot of people love the balance bikes, but I feel like they are kind of expensive and maybe won't be used very long as opposed to a more inexpensive small toddler bike with training wheels. Can anyone give their experience with either? Links for suggestions would be appreciated as well! </p>
