Lillebaby airflow (or All Seasons, since NY has cold winters) for sure. But ring slings and woven wraps are great options too.

I love ring slings for any age, but that age specifically! Only 1 layer of fabric so it stays light and it is super easy to pop them in and out of carries. I used my Ergo today for the first time in months and put it right back in my car LOL, I think I could easily sell off all of my wraps/carriers except for a couple ring slings and be a happy Mommy.

I'd give your sling a serious shot! I've tried: Moby, ring sling, mei tie (sp?), woven wrap, and tula. My ring sling is by far the coolest option. And mostly my favorite way to wear LO because it is so easy. I'm using my tula a bit more now because I have to have LO on my back to really get anything done (like house work), but any time LO can be on my hip that is my hands down preference for coolness and comfort (and her favorite too I think).

I had a beco and DH and I found it to be too hot, as the panel is padded. We got a tula that fits us both better and is lighter weight but it's still warm, we got an enduracool towel to help keep LO and myself cooler in it. My wrap conversion is probably the most breathable and coolest of all the carriers I've tried, I've heard good things about lenny lamb which are wrap conversions.

@avivoca: we used the ergo two summers ago with LO1 and it was HOT. I just felt like there was so much fabric on his back!

@dc yoga bee: yeah I think the wet sweaty spot where their head lies is unavoidable--LO's hair used to be wet with sweat too, prob also due to the hood being up and my body heat.

@Tidybee: I wonder if the silk is much cooler than the linen, since we already have the linen...need to look into a baby wearing group!

@MrsADS: that actually looks awesome! I would hate to get another ergo since we have one, but that one definitely looks cooler! maybe I can sell my other one...

@Anagram: I guess I would need to try it on, but it looks so bulky!

I am curious too! DS due in August. We live in south Florida so it's hot year round. I registered for a K'Tan to use when he's little but I'd like to get a soft structured carrier for when he gets bigger.

I am looking at the Ergo Performance, has anyone ever tried it out? It looks like instead of the thick fabric, it's like a mesh so you get airflow. http://store.ergobaby.com/baby-carrier/performance-collection/ventus-graphite

I have looked at regular carriers (Ergo, bjorn, whatever) and I seriously cannot imagine using ANY of them here - me and the baby would both have a heatstroke!

i've been looking into this with LO2 coming in July, and I think the silk sakura bloom ring sling is pretty popular. I can't justify the cost just yet, but i'm definitely seeing it recommended as a good summer carrying option. Can you visit a local babywearing group?

I just used my becco Gemini for the first time (albeit M is 18 days old), and it's 90 degrees outside. It has good airflow, by my chest was starting to get a bit sweaty where her head and hair were laying. I also had the headrest all the way up, so I'm sure that contributed to it. But, I like it so far!

We had no issues using our Ergo last summer when she was 8-10 months. I still wear her in it now to walk the dog and we do get a bit sweaty, but that's just summer in the south.

I used my beco Gemini all summer and it was perfect for that age. But both LO and I seemed to run hot so we definitely got sweaty. I just wore clothes that could get sweaty and dealt with it since that's the only carrier I had. Isn't their a lillebaby that's more breathable?

@hilsy85: yeah... I think people find it on smaller online boutiques here and there. Or on b/s/t groups on FB! People love it though... I'm always tempted but I was thinking of just getting the frogg togg cooling towel and use it with my Ergo

I have a gemini. and an ergo 360.. Gemini does seem more breathable, but when it's reaaaally hot/humid out I don't know if it'll fare any better. The babywearing group I belong to LOVES the Connecta Solar Weave... Super light weight. But it's hard to find online and I believe most ship from the UK.

I am looking at getting a different carrier for LO2...now that it is really hot here in NY I am wondering what will be best for next summer when she is 6-12 months old. For LO1 we had an ergo, but it was pretty sweaty and warm--and this time I will need to baby wear while chasing LO1 around.

I want to get a solly wrap for the early days, but I think she might be too big for it at 6-12 months old? We also have a sakura bloom ring sling which I never really used, are those good for hot weather? And finally I was looking at the beco gemini--any reviews on the breathability?
