@MsMini: thank you so much for pointing out the difference in fabrics! I don't think I will be able to see either of the Radians in person, so I would probably never have known if you hadn't said something. And I agree, the $30 difference isn't a big deal given how long we'll be using this seat.

@Mrs. Yoyo: Good to know, thanks! Which side do you have the Marathon on?

@Giraffe: Mostly the fabric is WAY nicer on the GTX than the RXT IMO. I found the RXT fabric kind of scratchy feeling, whereas the GTX fabric is really plush and nice feeling. Also, I am not a fan of the shine of the fabric on the RXT (superficial yes). Online I didn't think they looked too different, but I saw both in person and I was totally sold. I figure $30 over the course of the years we will own the seat isn't a big deal.

@MsMini: thank you! What made you decide to go for the GTX?

@zippylef: I am not familiar with that one but will check it out - thanks!

I have an Alpha Omega Elite in my CRV. It forced me to move up the passenger seat a bit, but that hasnt caused any problems so far. It fits pretty well for me and I have an older one, which looks smaller than the new models.... Not sure if it actually is.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: thanks, that is really helpful! We will be rear facing it and I'm already not the greatest driver, so I certainly do not need bigger blind spots. My husband was in favor of the Recaro because they apparently make all the race car seats, but he will just have to cope!

We drive a CR-V and got the Recaro. Don't get it!!!! It is a fabulous seat in and of itself but it creates massive blind spots in our car when rear facing. If you plan on forward facing it, then there's no issue.

I would go with something less bulky, like the Diono. Especially if you have other passengers often.

I searched and found many posts about convertible car seats in general, but since I know there are a lot of CR-V owners on here, I am wondering which convertible seats you all have. We have been thinking about the Diono Radian RXT, Recaro ProRide, Maxi Cosi Pria, or Britax Boulevard or Marathon, but are open to other options, especially if they would fit better in a CR-V! Ours is a 2012 and we do have other people (adults) riding in the back seat fairly often.
