I live in North Texas so it gets pretty toasty here in the summer, and DS also runs warm. We have the Diono in my car and a cheaper/lighter one in DH's car. The Diono is slim in profile and converts to a booster also.

We are in New England so hot wasn't as big a factor, but of all the seats with extended rear facing limits that I looked at the nextfit was the shortest front to back- but it's definitely wider than some (like two adults plus the seat in the back is a squeeze in our mid size SUV). My friend got a maxi cosi seat that is supposed to be better for hot babies.

Just like the title says. Starting to keep our eyes open for a good deal on a seat. DS is 4 months and 26'' long. We have a Chicco Keyfit now and LOVE it, but the Nextfit looks super hot to me and big.. We are in south Florida and it's hot all the time plus DS is a very hot natured baby. We have 2 small cars (a Civic and a Saab that's maybe slightly bigger than the Civic) so a smaller profile seat would be great.

Also, we're probably going to buy one for each car. So we're either looking for a reasonably priced seat we can buy two of, or one "nicer" seat for the car he's in most of the time, and a cheaper one for the other car.
