@babybean404: Ditto on the no leaking, the exception was my husband snapped it waaay too loose and then she slept on her side, but let's be real, anything would leak under those circumstances! It does typically get on the cover but at this age (12 weeks, ebf) I think that's pretty standard.

@babybean404: The only time I've had poop leak out of a cover has been when I didn't have it secured well enough AND she had diarrhea. So, it's only happened once.

@babybean404: I have been cloth diapering for almost 2 years and I have never had poop leak I don't think. Ive had a few pee leaks if his clothes get tucked into the diaper or if i wait too long...but never ever a poop leak (that I can remember...)

@avivoca: @Mrs. Lion:

I did a trifolded prefold for the first time just now and it worked well! But I am terrified about poop. Does it stay in the cover even if the prefold is just trifolded???

Honestly even when snappi'd we always get leaking onto the cover, but we've never had poop leak outside of the cover.

@Mrs. Lion: we use the osocozy size 1s. They are $12/6 on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003AJHDQW/ref=aw_br_ov_dp__10?colid=1O1MZ6RHWCUWK&coliid=I16OXB7YBZLWV1&vs=1

The ones are maybe half an inch too long on the lowest snap rise when trifolded but it is such a small amount I just let it bunch a little bit. My lo is about 13 pounds now and I can still snappi them pretty easily so I would guess the 15 pound weight limit is fairly accurate.

@Mrs. Lion: We have Green Mountain Diapers work horse prefolds and I love them. My girl wasn't a big fan as a newborn, but we like them now and they also make great burp cloths. The prep is beastly (you have to wash and dry them at least six times before using them.

@Cole: that's a great idea! What size and type of prefolds do you use? I may buy those instead of getting new inserts. (I need more so baby 2 can use the pocket diapers and lo 1 can be in the flips)

Great choice on the flips, we are using about 50/50 prefolds and flip stay dry inserts with the flip covers and love them. The prefolds we have for beautifully trifolded and do a nice job.
When poop is imminent I often snappi the prefolds and it is a great combo.

@Mrs. Lion: thanks! I picked out some flips, it worked out to be $11.21 each which seems like a pretty good deal. We may just start using a trifolded prefold at daycare too since they've been having trouble putting the diaper on with the snappi.

@babybean404: I think it depends on what you buy. Doublers are usually smaller I think because they are intended to be added to an insert and inserts can be used alone.

@babybean404: I wanted to add...if the leaking is happening with pee, you may have an absorbency issue, not a fit issue. You may want to try a different detergent or contact the insert/prefold manufacturer to troubleshoot your wash routine. Repelling is a more common cause of leaking I think. Or you may need a doubler if you have a heavy wetter.

Eta: I missed that you are using a service....I would imagine they have the wash routine correct (I would hope!!) so maybe try a doubler.

@babybean404: bummer! I didn't mean to imply that you were leaving her in a soggy diaper, I was just surprised because we've literally had like 5 leaks in 21 months of using them! I hope you find something else that works better!

@babybean404: The inserts themselves are fine but I don't like having to fold them to get them to the right size. I bought some bamboo ones that are much thinner (but still as absorbant) and they fit without folding.

Eta, I haven't had the issue with the leaking, but we have always changed her pretty quickly after a pee. I found the snaps to make for easy size adjustments, and we typically only need to use one cover a day (if she pees a couple times and the diaper is very wet, we switch to a new one).

I really like flip covers! The pocket in the front and back makes it really easy to use them with flat inserts instead of prefolds (or you can trifold a prefold). I hate the inserts that come with them though.

A boutique near me price matches Amazon and they're doing a Buy 2 get 1 free deal on their cloth diapers/covers. We have a diaper service so we're using prefolds.

What have been your favorite covers?

Currently we have mostly thirsties size 1 covers (some snap some Velcro). I like them OK but find that the leg/thigh area of the covers gets wet and leaks when LO has a big tinkle!
Also, the elastic stains (that doesn't bother me as much as the wetting through though).

We had 2 rumparooz newborn covers and liked them (except for the fact that the tag would get wet and had a tendency to stick out).
