I never even knew there were so many diaper creams! Are they not all made of the same ingredients?

Dr. Smith's was recommended by both our ped and our nanny. It works very well for us.

I don't think daycare will use paper towels, but I just sent over triple paste so I hope that works. Thanks everyone!

Desitin works just fine for us. The key (for us) is to make sure the area is dry before applying the rash cream and closing the diaper. We keep a roll of paper towels next to our changing spot so we can pat dry the area after every diaper change. Definitely makes a world of difference!

I use the ava diaper cream and it works well for us - but agree with no wipes. OMG I used one to blow my nose once because it was handy and holy crap did it sting!! My nose was dry from blowing it and gosh. I use wet cloths when I need to, but neither girl has had a terrible rash in awhile.

I liked triple paste or butt paste when it was bad.

But more importantly, switch to wet paper towels (just water) until it's all better. Wipes can really sting. In particular my D's gets a rash from pampers sensitive wipes so I never use them anymore.

Purple Desitin is the very best for bad rashes. The wipes can really sting, so I'll rinse them in the sink before using them.

Our ped said try not to use wipes if it's really bad, just wipe gently with water. We haven't had it that bad, but we use a combo of Destin (thick white paste), A+D and Aquaphor. The key for us is to make sure her all parts and creases are very dry (we use baby powder) and then then I try to let her bum air out for a lil bit after slathering on stuff.

DD just got a terrible diaper rash in her front area. She screams every time I try to wipe it, and I feel so terrible for her. This is the first time she's had a diaper rash, so I don't really know what to use. All we had was Aquaphor, but I'm not sure that it'll help with an actual rash. I'm going to go try to get some diaper cream after lunch. What are your recommended diaper rash creams and treatments?
