Exergen temporal, bought at Costco. It's still going strong several years later. The nurse at our pediatrician recommended it.

Also one tip - if you can find one with a light up screen that would be super helpful! Ours doesn't have it so I've had to use a flashlight while taking DS's temp at night this week!

Braun ear worked well for me. I didn't like the forehead one.

We have a braum forehead one and I don't really trust it at all. Also with our infant the braum ear one the doc had was not consistent at all. I use rectal temp for the infant and guess of the braum forehead for the toddler. If he had a forehead temp reading I was worried about I would check with a rectal reading. But I am less worried about fevers on the toddler and the hottest he's ever been on the forehead was 103.

We have a Braun one too and have pretty much only used that one; it's what our doctor uses too! I bought a rectal but never even opened the package.. We usually just take it from both ears to get an avg.

@travellingbee: same - Exegen temporal. The ear thermometers don't work well in some kids and LO has super waxy ears so I wouldn't trust the read. Though she weirdly loves things in her ears so I bet she'd like it better!

We have the Braun ear one too and our 2 year old loves it a little too much! I'm thinking about getting a forehead one which may be less exciting than the ear one...

We have this Braun Ear one and really like it:
https://www.amazon.com/Braun-Thermoscan-5-Ear-Thermometer/dp/B00PINP5BI/ref=sr_1_7_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1476404395&sr=1-7&keywords=braun+ear+thermometer

We bought it at CVS, I think it was like $40 there. It is SUPER fast which is the key for us with a squirmy toddler. We previously had a forehead one but it was impossible to get an accurate reading with it and we had a lot of false 98.5s! With this ear one the numbers are never super exact, but its so quick we usually just take 1-2 temps in each ear and pick a number in the middle.

I love our Braun ear thermometer. It's only been off a degree when compared to the rectal, and it's super easy to use. I bought it at Target.

I have a 13 month old and usually use a rectal thermometer, I know it is more accurate especially for babies.

But there are times (i.e. during the night) it would be REALLY nice to check a forehead or even an ear thermometer.

Do you have one you recommend that seems accurate and easy to use? Reviews on Amazon seem mixed.
