@jhd: i have tried it before and they were hard as a rock too 😭 I need to keep experimenting! Adding dairy has been the only solution I have found so far that doesnt involve simple syrup.

@Mrs. Lion: they are like ice cubes! That’s what I would like best about yogurt pops is that they are softer. Maybe if we did juice blended with fruit they would be softer?

@jhd: are you able to get the juice ones to come out softish? Or they frozen solid like ice?

@PinkElephant: They definitely ate them all last summer as part of their breakfast! I'm sure they still had something else too, but we ate them every morning. Sometimes at lunch and dinner too 😄 my oldest wont touch anything with yogurt anymore so I havent made them this year but we may have to give it a try. My foster kiddos are obsessed with frozen gogurts...I am trying to wean them onto healthier versions but they aren't having it 😂

I bought the ring pop style popsicle mold last summer after @Mrs. Lion: ‘s post. LO wouldn’t eat the yogurt pops last summer (yet yogurt is his favorite food!) so we have been doing juice. But maybe I will try again with yogurt and fruit soon.

@Mrs. Lion: eek those are exactly what I was looking at! I was afraid I was getting caught up in the novelty of it so I’m really glad to hear you like them! Do your kids actually eat the breakfast pops for breakfast? I came across a recipe in the food magazine my supermarket puts out for breakfast pop that uses Greek yogurt blueberry purée, and granola thst sounded fun and healthy, and I thought it might be a fun way to mix things up on hot days. My kids eat hot oatmeal for breakfast pretty much every day and it’s been so hot lately I can barely look at it-I have no idea how they are eating it!

@Reese: thanks! Does this create really hard pops, or are they still bite-able?

@Corduroy: good call on the no staining! I have no shame in telling my kiddos to take off their shirt/dress if they want to eat something loaded with food dye, but it would be nice not to have to worry! 😝

@lioneyes: Its awesome she makes them. I keep seeing recipes for the most GORGEOUS layered pops, but considering my kids think the generic fla-vor-pop push up things they get at camp are delicacies, I’m trying to convince mmyself self it’s not worth it just yet!!

@Chuckles: thanks! The last thing I need is extra drippy pops. The 20 month old always wanted s in on big kid pops and she makes a huuuuge mess bc she doesn’t actually like the cold factor, just the sweetness.

@Mrs. Lion: yay!! Thanks for doing the research for me! I thought I remembered this post but couldn’t track it down.

We have these, and I don't recommend them. The liquid hasn't really been reaching the base, even when filled to the fill line. And then they are extra drippy. https://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-1257526/

It's disappointing because we also have the mini molds from the same brand and they are awesome. https://www.zokuhome.com/collections/ice-pop-molds/products/mini-pop-molds

We still have a tiny baby mold even though my kids are 5 and 3. I’m planning to upsize some point soon. I fill them with coconut water because it has very little sugar and doesn’t stain. I keep waiting for them to call me out on it but they beg for them.

@Mrs. Champagne: awesome, thanks! I like the lemonade idea; I think we will do a lot of simple pops like this. Super fancy one’s are fun for sometimes, but when I googled and fell down the recipe rabbit hole, I could easily spend $10 or more making 6-8 pops, which defeats the purpose of what I was trying to do!

I put lemonade and a few raspberries in and it was super tasty! Kids loved.

Any recommendations on ice pop molds? We had the Nuby baby size set, but I’m looking for something to make a decent number big-kid size pops in one go.

Also if you’ve got any favorite recipes to share, that’d be great. Open to yogurt based, fruit based, and even less healthy options! Or brand recommendations for store bought work, too.

As the heat creeps in, I’m allowing my kids to eat more and more ice pops, but would like to keep the number of junky ones (think, flavor ice) to a minimum...however, I feel like we burn through a box of some of the premium juice/fruit bars in a single serving (2 kids, a toddler, and me, and often the boxes only contain 5!), which just isn’t practical.
