The best magnetic letters are the ones by the company that makes those Magnetic Poetry tiles...they are all one piece and there is no magnet that can come loose and be a choking hazard.

It is the ABC123 set.

We recently got LO this table and chair set from
Ikea and she looooves it:

http://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/60196358/

http://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/10201673/

It's great because lately she's really been into coloring/scribbling (she's 19 months) and it's the perfect size for her.

My daughter is starting to get into abcs so I was thinking about a leapfrog laptop (I think they run about $20?).

Love those grandparents!

How about a nabi? I'm thinking of getting LO one for Christmas because she loves my phone for learning games.

@NaturallyCathy: ooh what about a smock? That could be a cute gift but cheaper than the other big ticket items. :)

@Smurfette: The outside toys will probably have to wait until birthday - I'm hoping we'll eventually have a sandbox/dirt pit and a swing set since our backyard has the room. I'm leery of the water table since I saw a lot of moms don't like it because it gets yucky quick? Have to clean it often.

I added an easel, paper, art supplies, etc. I really hope we'll see one family or another get together and get him set up for the rest of the year - or at least a few months ;) Art is so much fun and he's really having a blast with it!

I'd love to get a wagon but I think we'll probably wait and get a double wagon about mid-summer for both kiddies. But that is a great idea and I'm putting it on her list anyways! :) Thanks hon.

@locavore_mama: I tried suggesting the sling shelf to DH and he was like "Why?" I think it's a great idea though and I'm going to talk to my dad about it. Maybe he can build it for the playroom :) Thank you!

@lemondrop: DH totally shut down Scout :( :( :( I showed him the adorable pictures of the LOs with their Scouts and showed him the price and everything and he was again like 'Why? He doesn't need another electronic toy.' Because it will mean for five minutes I won't have to entertain him! Argh! Tempted to put it on the list anyways....

C's the same age, and he's getting the Read With Me Scout from Leapfrog for Christmas or birthday. He loves the original and it helps us at bedtime, but this one has even more buttons- it of course does the reading, but also does colors, numbers, and still has a bedtime setting. I took him to Toys R Us the other day to look for ideas, and he was obsessed with it! (as in meltdown when it came time to put it away)

I used to volunteer at a library that had a program where kids read to dogs to practice get comfortable with it, next to having a real dog (didn't think you guys do), I thought this may not be a bad option for something to grow into.

Wow. Your family is super generous!

Ikea actually has a pretty great easel and table and chair set. Kidkraft sling bookcase so he can reach his books? I'm trying to think What I got nieces and nephews at that age.

Outside toys? Swing? Slide?

I like the easel idea! Especially since he sees you painting.

For DD, a wagon? Water table?

I've been asked my husband's grandparents and the ILs in general to make a 'wishlist' for the kids for Christmas. Everyone likes to buy early, which is fine, I'm cool with that - but I'm drawing a blank.

DS is going to be 23 months come Christmas. DD will be 9 months. Since they're so close together, we pretty much have everything 'new' so we don't really need any more stuff but I feel like we need to continue challenging DS.

We already know we're getting a learning tower and tricycle for Christmas. DS already has Megabloks. He loves balls, cars, trains, Dumbo (that's right, not Elmo), puzzles, and books. I would like to get him a few more puzzles, maybe some fun magnets.

Eventually hubs and I are going to get a play kitchen and accessories and DS already has some felt food. But everything else - I'm just at a loss.

My goal is since I'm a SAHM to have some things that he can play with for fun but grow into the learning aspect of later. I'm thinking he'll need a table with some chairs. Perhaps an art easel (anyone have a sturdy favorite?). Some art supplies, smock, etc. But what about some magnetic letters? Or good wooden puzzles? Something to amp up the teaching of colors, shapes, letters, numbers, something that will challenge him.

And any suggestions for little miss would be great since I feel like she's missing out because big brother got here first :(

Anyone?

ETA: His birthday and hers are not far after Christmas so whatever we don't get Christmas, they may get for their birthday.
