I agree with previous posters, flat on your back is easiest to feel flutters.

Lying on my back. My first movements I was lying on my bed and browsing the internet on the laptop which was on my lap, then it felt like there was a goldfish swimming in my belly.

Flat on my back with my hand on my tummy. Those early movement moments were the best!! Like there is really a baby in there?! Enjoy!

On my back after some lemonade always got him moving. During one of my ultrasounds, they had me drink lemonade to get a clearer picture of him. He was stubborn and required coaxing to be seen.

laying flat on my back right before bed. Particularly if I played her music. A little kanye/jay-z (anything with bass!) on my phone sitting on my stomach was almost always good for a thump or two those first few weeks.

I felt the first movements laying flat on my back. Then as time progressed I would feel her sitting at my desk at work after lunch or a sugary drink. I think it was more the food/drink than the position.

So happy for you - it's the best feeling!

I don't have any advice really about positions, but I can commiserate about not feeling those early movements! The first movements I felt were around 18.5 weeks, not long after lunch when I was sitting at a desk. It was really subtle-- it felt like someone was brushing up against me from the inside (which obviously it was, lol). But it didn't feel like a definite kick or anything until later. Apparently lying down not long after you eat can help you feel baby--they get a little energy burst after food--but I felt those first movements sitting, not lying down (and my heartburn is bad if I lie down after eating, so that's no fun for me!).

Is there a best position to feel early baby movement? I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow, and I will say there were maybe 3 or 4 times this week, that I thought I might have felt something that could have been the baby. They were all at night laying in bed on my stomach. I'm not convinced it wasn't just wishful thinking though because I want that reassurance so bad!

Anyways, for early baby movements (like the first two weeks of movement) were there certain times of day and positions when you normally felt it? I've never thought I felt anything while sitting up for example.

thanks ladies.
