@mrs. wagon: I just spray the stain, carefully sprinkle the oxyclean and then respray. Sometimes I rub it in a bit with my fingers. It definitely can be messy! I do it over a sink and once I've made a little paste on the garment I roll it up and put it in a bucket I have to wait for next load. I try to let it sit at least 30 minutes.

We use Babyganics stain remover for most stains and it really works great. For super tough stains we use Oxyclean.

@Mrs Spoon: how do you make the paste? I tried doing this and it just turns into a watery, grainy mess and when I try to scrub it in with a toothbrush it just rolls off in little sandy balls.

I just started using the oxiclean powder in addition to the stain stick and it's been working great. I fill a little tub with a scoop and mix with HOT water, then soak overnight. Then I put a scoop in with the laundry and use vinegar in the softener compartment to remove the residue. It has been working so great that I really regret waiting til now..! I've thrown away so many stained clothes :(

If I can't do a soak right away (I only do soaks the night before laundry nights) I use the stain stick, then do the soak when the day comes.

For really, really bad stains, I used Crud Cutter (actually, I think it's Krud Kutter) but I buy it at Home Depot. It gets everything out. I'll also add Borax in (it's a powder, in a box, I buy it at Target). It's natural so I feel better about it.

I find that immediate treating really fixes everything. Whenever we have a blowout or his dumb fluoride with iron vitamin that smells like toxic death and stains gets on anything, I immediately bring it to the sink and use high pressure water. For the biggest vitamin spit out I used some dish soap and rubbed it a bit with my hand and it all came out (I don't rub poop though gross). It only takes a few minutes and has been very sanity saving!

For really bad stains, I have to something rewash the clothes. I make sure to spray oxyclean on it again too

I like Oxy Clean but there might be better ones. For set in stains I soak in the powder (like, yellow stains around the neck of clothes saved from the older baby). For food or poop I just use the spray before washing and it gets almost everything.
