Unless you throw them hard or bang them, nothing comes out. It's now my go to. My 16 month old likes to hold his cups upside down and started doing that with the thermos foogo we were using. I would come back into the room after 30 seconds to find a highchair tray full of milk. They are pretty awesome. The only thing is if you don't take them apart all the way regularly, they will grow mold, even with just water.
