We gate checked our B-Agile stroller and there was no damage at all. I don't think gate checked items get damaged nearly as easily as items that go through baggage claim.

If you still don't want to bring it, I would definitely check out a consignment store or Once Upon a Child. The ones in our area always have strollers.

@daniellemybelle: @PinkElephant: I hadn't thought about secondhand! I'll check craigslist and maybe hit up Once Upon a Child when my mom's here this weekend. Do you think OUAC will have strollers? I haven't been before!

Ditto buying secondhand - can you check Craigslist in your area? Maclaren strollers are fantastic, some models (like the quest) are suitable from birth (the rest are ok from about 6 months), and are super durable and easy to use. You should be able to get a used one for under $100.

The BabyZen YoYo is the most amazing stroller ever - it looks and feels more like a full size stroller, but it folds up so small and light you can actually carry it onboard an airplane! It's $$ and unfortunately pretty new though, so may be hard to find used unless someone got one and didn't like it.

I would honestly try to get E more keen on the carrier between now and then... It just seems so much easier than messing with a stroller!

Having said that, maybe check out some secondhand stores so you can get a good deal?

The Britax B-Nimble fully reclines. It's on sale on BRU for $99 right now.

I will say, I flew internationally with our City Mini (nearly identical to the B-Agile) and infant seat and had no issues with damage. Make sure you check it at the gate and not the counter.

I think your best bet is hitting a baby store and trying her in a few options. Once you know a certain type will work you can check craigslist or a Facebook group for a used option. I would lean towards an umbrella stroller with recline option. You can always tuck some blankets around her to make it cozier.

Our could your so or a friend get a pass to go through security? They could take your stroller back to your house for you. If your mom could borrow a stroller you would have very little time spent without one.

@Foodnerd81: haha...I folded it my stroller and put it in the bag while wearing LO when I flew solo. I wouldn't say it was "easy", in that it took longer than it would have with 2 people, but on both legs of the trip someone ended up helping me which was really nice.

@kjpugs: I flew solo with my then 3month old with our huge B-Ready frame and B Safe. I just gate checked the stroller and the car seat. I used the cheap orange "gate check" back just to protect from dirt, but I didn't notice anything that was banged up.

I bought my stroller to use every day, so for me personally, I'd rather risk a scratch than by an all new stroller just for a trip.

At that age, we did a Snap N Go with an infant car seat. It worked great for the airport. Later at 16 months or so, we got a Go Go Babyez to attach to our convertible car seat.

We just flew with LO at 5 months and had the infant car seat and snap and go. We needed the car seat at our destination anyway, so it was definitely the best option for us, but I'm going to say an umbrella stroller is probably easier if you are alone. I had LO in the front carrier for part of the time, while DH dealt with putting a bag over the car seat, folding up the snap and go, when we gate checked it. I don't really know how I would have done it alone, where I think most umbrella strollers are a lot easier to fold while holding a baby.

We don't have one yet so I can't recommend a specific one, sorry! But if you have a carrier, I would recommend bringing it just for times like, when you are folding up the stroller or putting your bag on the belt for security, or boarding the plane-- much easier with two hands, even if she is fussing in the carrier. You can put it under the stroller the rest of the time.

It's rarely mentioned, but the Britax B-Nimble is great! Plus you can snap your B-Safe into it. it reclines as much as the B-Agile and it's great for y'all parents. Easy to push... It's a great umbrella stroller!

@Mrs. Bee: I don't want to have to bring a carseat with us since my mom has one in NJ. She's very tall and will outgrow the infant seat, so I'm hoping to get a more umbrella-stroller like stroller, so that we can use it for longer.

@oliviaoblivia: @T.H.O.U.: I won't wear her because of the reasons I listed above. I also don't want to be without a stroller at the airport, so even if my mom borrowed one, I'd be screwed. We really only need it for the airport, not as much for the trip. We won't be sightseeing, etc. This will be more for travel so our nice one doesn't get messed up. @looch: I did just add a few Chiccos to my amazon wishlist and will check them out at buy buy baby or BRU this weekend!

Is there anyway your mom can borrow a stroller if you do need one?
My mom ended up getting a stroller, high chair, and pack'n'play from a coworker whose kids had outgrown them for when we visit. It makes it so much easier to go home to visit.

I should add- she won't be spending much time in the stroller in NJ, it'll just be needed mostly for when I'm in the airport with her, since we're traveling without my husband. In NJ she'll be at peoples' houses, not doing any sightseeing or anything like that.
