DD is the same way- I put food coloring in her water and tell her that it's KoolAid- she LOVES it!! I also am a little more relaxed about her drinking juice because I would rather her drink a couple cups of watered down OJ than nothing at all.

Do they seem dehydrated? Dark pee, dry lips? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. They're unlikely to make themselves sick.

I force them to take sips, but between that, fruit and Popsicles (I have molds to make my own out of all sorts of fruit/juice) they see to be ok!

Mine just devours watermelon, so I think that works for hydration! But she is the same as yours with just little sips of water. Sometimes adding a couple of drops of lemon helps...

I started adding the smallest splash of lemonade to his water sometimes. He thinks it's juice and chugs it. I do it for my own water and it's quite tasty even with a very small amount.

Multiple bottles of water, I bring some outside, usually I have it in a pocket!

What about some popsicles?

@Bao: I pulled my hair out trying to get my kids to drink in the heat of summer - nothing worked!

You know that quote "You can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink"? Yeah that's my kids!

I gave up!

My LOs drink more if the water isn't icy. I think it's easier to drink a lot when it isn't so, so cold. And we always have straw water bottles around because those are popular. If they're old enough you can put lines on water bottles every two ounces or so and all of you can have a race to the next line. No going back to play until you get to the line!

My LO is obsessed with coconut water, so when I really want her to drink a lot (super hot days, or if she is sick) I offer that and she will always drink it. Fruit is also really hydrating and she will always eat that.

The weather has been quite warm here, which means we are spending a lot of time outside. I've noticed the girls aren't drinking as much water as they should be. I make sure it's fresh, with ice often and I keep reminding them to drink but they only take sips and are off running again.

How do you get your LO to drink more water when busy playing outside?
