You've already got most of it covered, but I'd also recommend buying a veggie tray, chopped fruit cups and/or prepped salad bags. I found that most of my regret was because meals weren't as well rounded and didn't feel complete. Just buying produce that was already prepped made a huge difference.

Also, if I wasn't planning on leftovers, I'd ask honestly if anyone would eat it in the next two days and if not, I gave myself license to throw it out. Keeping track of leftovers and storage containers (and cleaning out what I inevitably forgot in the fridge!) was more stressful sometimes than just throwing together another crock pot meal.

@DesertDreams88: We're on our way home from that grocery shopping trip right now and the FedEx and UPS men must think I am a serial online shopper! Thank you!

@erinbaderin: The unfortunate part is I had to fire our cleaning lady a couple weeks ago and have yet to get another one started. That's pretty high on the priority list to get a new one started, thanks for the reminder!

@Cole: That sounds amazing. Like, seriously amazing especially since I have a 17 month old and I chop all sorts of stuff for her everyday. The problem is finding someone to do something like that. Something to think about!

@caterw: I'm going to prep a bunch of meals tonight. I have good intentions to prep outfits most weekends but it rarely happens!

Very, very minimal cleaning and easy dinners or take-out! I love the idea of prepping outfits too- I never thought of that when I was working!

I know someone who hired a woman to come in 3 mornings a week to do a load of laundry, dishes, tidy up, make beds rib some quick errands, throw dinner in the crock pot, cut up fruit and veggies, pack kids lunches etc. She was there 6-9 hours a week depending on how much work there was and was paid about the same as a sitter. Maybe you know someone who is looking for a few extra hours for a few weeks?

I don't know what your budget and your tolerance for mess is, but maybe get a cleaning service to come until you have some time again?

Please share your best tips for surviving when you and/or SO are crazy busy at work. I'm going to be working 60+ hour weeks for a little while and DH has some on-call time as well.

I'm planning easy dinners with little to no prep, breaking out the disposable tablewear, and laying out outfits. Also giving myself grace and saying NO without guilt.

What else saves you during the crazy times?
