A parent, on their hands and knees, facing the baby. That or a mirror, like the ones in old school shoe stores.

I think what motivates an individual baby depends on the baby. My son wasn't motivated to crawl until food was involved. Same with pulling up to stand - food/bottle is all that worked.

I just use whatever motivates her to move. She loves balls and our phones. She's not fully crawling just yet. She moves with mostly her arms like a seal. DH says she looks like a slug.

I didn't really motivate my Lo to crawl.. I just let her roll around on the floor until she was ready! Lo loves remotes, my phone, computer, and crinkly toys too though

Wagon Jr.'s best motivation was my cup of iced coffee. He liked the noise the ice made and how cold and wet the cup was. Haha.

I just put toys all over the room. But she doesn't crawl, she'll scootch and roll her way to them. I didn't even know there were special toys for crawling!

DS loved the OBall rattle, both as a rattle and to chase after.

I think crawling is one of those things that happens when they are ready and no matter what speciality toys you have LO will do it when he/she is ready. The important part I giving them plenty of supervised opportunity to practice :)

Not a toy, but Mum-Mums are what LO to crawl. Or anything with a crunchy/crinkly wrapper. Or, the remote. Or, my cell phone. :D

Any reccs on the best toys to encourage crawling? A friend mentioned a "crawl ball," but Amazon shows that Lamaze, Vtech, and Fisher Price all have low-rated offerings. Any favorites?
