My kids also take their own backpacks. It helps limit the amount of stuff they take, and I try to get them to be responsible for keeping track of their stuff.

I fly with my two kids with a backpack/diaper bag (has their tablets in it), a tote with snacks and some toys and a toddler backpack with more toys. My kids are 3.5 and almost 2. The older one really likes to have his own pack. It's a handful...

Agree with kid backpack! We always have an umbrella stroller and usually the kid bags end up on there for most of the time, so they only have to wear them down the jet bridge. They LOVE packing their own toys but I have to regulate a little :silly:

@misolee: thanks! That is what leaning toward as well I think. I think my 3 year old would like to have her own bag and items set aside for her so she can choose what she wants to do on the flight without me having to dig through and see what I’ve got ha day for her.

I used my regular LLBean backpack for flights. I wanted everything compartmentalized, so I used a neoprene lunch bag for snacks/milk and a diaper clutch, and everything else was in gallon size ziplock bags.

I like it so much I switched over permanently!

I don't have any backpack references but when we do plane travel, I have my kids each take a backpack and put their own toys in their bags so it's easy to keep track of. I hate rummaging in bags for things (but i also don't want multiple or too big bags) so it's easier for the kids to have their own. My almost 6 year old is a seasoned traveler so she packs her own toys and 1 stuffed animal. My 2.5 year old carried his own stuff for the first time this summer (2 hour flight) and he just put several cars in the bag and that's it.

Hi all! So I currently have a Jeep backpack diaper bag that I use for days out with my two kids (3 year old and 10 month old). We’re going on a flight (just about 2.5 hours so not terrible) and I want to make sure i bring a few items with us to entertain the kids along with some snacks, water cups and the usual diapers/wipes and extra clothing that I carry in case of accidents. My current backpack is pretty spacious and can fit most of what I need but it’ll be a tight fit if I try to pack in any play items (especially bc I may need to also bring my work laptop). Initially I was thinking I’d just bring a large tote bag (or have my toddler bring her little back pack) and toss in any overflow into that but just curious if anyone has found a diaper bag (backpack style preferred) that could fit a thin laptop, all the usual baby and toddler items you’d toss in there (snacks, cups, clothing change, diapers, wipes), and a few toys (mostly art supplies and a tablet for the toddler and a couple soft and/or teething toys for the baby). It would be great to not get stuck carrying multiple bags on the plane.

Thanks!
