We traveled right at 2 years and took the stroller but she was good about sitting in it. It also helped as a distraction for her to push it around while our connection was delayed. She had her little backpack too which I threw in the stroller when she did not really want to use it. We took our umbrella stroller and it has been great in the airports (we have the first years ignite). Good luck!

Giving my son something he's in charge of -- his little backpack, for example -- always helps. If you don't want to be responsible for her suitcase should she abandon it, then go with something that's easy for you to add to your own carry-on. But given that she might be tired during the layover, a small easy-to-carry umbrella stroller might just be the ticket!

My son has done great pulling his own suitcase, for some reason, he loves to pack it and carry it around and it gives him a sense of ownership, which I like. And everyone comments on it in the airport, makes him feel good too.

I bring her carseat on the plane and use the GoGoBabyz in the airport. She can can walk beside me or ride in her seat while I pull it. I last traveled alone with her when I was 7 months pregnant and she was 22 months.

I traveled at 33 weeks pregnant with my then 16 month old. It was best for me to use my umbrella stroller (First Years Jet). I was definitely glad to have the umbrella stroller and would def have done that now with my two year old even (except I would wear my 9 month old).

When we flew back to the US when C was 2, I pushed the stroller with her in it and wore the carseat on my back. DH pulled the luggage. I have done all three alone though, also.

I've flown a few times solo with my LO, and had her walk. The biggest obstacle I faced with her walking though was going through security. Dealing with bags and getting her to stand in line, and then trying to get my shoes back on and regather everything while she was ready to book it! So, I do think an umbrella stroller + something small to keep her occupied (small new toy, stickers, snack) would be ideal, if you can get her to stay in it!

@78h2o: I have a kiddy sized backpack that I give to my LO. If he doesn't like carrying it anymore I just stuff it into my carry-on (which is also always a backback - hands free is always key to me).
I think I'd take the stroller but my LO has phases were he will just not budge anymore and sit on the ground. I'm always glad if I don't have to carry him in those situations.

I'd probably give a cheap umbrella stroller a try and hope she'll let you push her! Toddlers can be so difficult in situations like this!

@swurlygurl: It's 2 hrs, so yeah, maybe we should skip a stroller all together. She might like to pull her own bag or a Trunkie, but if for some reason, she refused, then I'd have to deal with it... so I'm inclined to skip it.

@78h2o: Ooohhh... that does make things more difficult to know she's likely to fight it. How long is your layover? If it's not to rush-y, I'd say let her walk and get some wiggles out!

@swurlygurl: She has been more timid lately, but I flew with her about 6 months ago and she fought riding in it at that time... so, I don't know! It is a later flight and it's possible she could be sleepy enough to want to ride at least during the layover. I didn't really think of that until just now.

Is she timid? Any chance the hustle and bustle of travel will intimidate her and she'll be happy in her stroller?

I definitely require our full stroller for travel. I'm familiar with it, L's familiar with it, it can hold our bags...

I am flying by myself next week with my 2 year old. I will be 16 weeks pregnant, but I can still carry her for reasonable distances (she's 31 lbs). She is hit or miss with her willingness to ride in a stroller. No matter how hard I try, she always can get out of the harness of my B-agile. She would usually rather push it than ride, and she sometimes tantrums if I don't let her push it (but when she pushes it, she runs into things/people).

We have one connection and no need for a stroller at our destination. The destination airport is tiny. I would mainly use a stroller for the departure airport and the connection.

I can't decide what would be best... to bring my B-agile? A cheap umbrella stroller? Have her walk? Have her pull her own mini suitcase? Have her pull or ride on a Trunki?
