@Shantuck: I am so sorry to hear that. :crying:

Yes, I'm currently in the midst of my own beta/spotting hell. Im hoping to get a definitive answer this week.

I've been there. Waiting is so gut wrenching my hard. I'm so sorry for that. My betas didn't double but the fetal pole was developing and we found a heartbeat at 6+4.

At that point they told me I had a 50:50 chance, but by 8 weeks the baby stopped growing and I lost it.

The prolonged wait to find out was so agonizing, but I somehow made it through... And I do know people who were that miracle case... Even if it wasn't you or I.

I didn't get my rainbow in the traditional sense, but birth mom conceived with a mirena the week after I lost my baby, so I assume there is some sort of divine connection or just a crazy coincidence.

@Crystal: Just saw on another board that you are experiencing something similar with bleeding and beta issues. Hoping you have a very different outcome! I can say that something seemed off with this pregnancy from the beginning (this was my second pregnancy - the first resulted in a live birth).

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts. I just got the results from yesterday's blood draw and my numbers are still rising (Monday's number was double Wednesday's number but obviously that is still a slow rise). The spotting hasn't really progressed yet either so I'm heading back tomorrow for another ultrasound. So for now the holding pattern continues but I obviously have a pretty good sense at this point as to which way this is going.

I personally did not have a good experience with slow rising betas, but my betas with this (10wk) pregnancy started off low in comparison to my dates. The Betabase website become my best friend. They have great charts showing averages and ranges for beta numbers AND doubling rates, and their calculator even figures in hours.

Thanks for the encouragement and success stories. Went to get some acupuncture on Friday because at least I felt like I was doing something rather than sitting here helpless. I went in for my third beta today and should hear the results tomorrow morning. Really hoping for good news as tomorrow is my son's birthday and I want more than nothing else that to give him a sibling!

Hoots, you are right... beta hell is the worst! I had my beta taken just once around 7 weeks with my son and never went through all of this. I wish I hadn't started down this path.

I did. I was earlier along then you, but at one point my betas only rose 70% or so and I thought for sure I was done (especially because it was over a 4 day gap). But it normalized after that and now he is 2. I hope you wind up with similar results!

I was at higher levels but I did betas at 5 and a half weeks and they only went from 7,000 to 10,000 I was pretty worried but we did an ultrasound a week later and saw a heartbeat and I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and so far so good.

I'm not an expert, but I think that betas rise a bit more slowly once you reach the 1000 mark. I think it's also worth noting that it's something like 85% of successful pregnancies are within that doubling within 48-72 hour range, which means 15% aren't. I had two betas out of five that were just outside the normal doubling time (74/76 hours, but draws were all while under the 1000 mark) and am 17 weeks now. Beta hell is the worst, but don't give up hope yet!

I'm 6 or 7 weeks pregnant (7 when you base it off my last missed period; 6 when you account for the fact that I ovulated on day 20 rather than day 14 - this was a monitored cycle so an ultrasound showed I had not ovulated on day 16 and my fertility monitor didn't peak until day 20). My doctor's office had me come in last Monday for a beta HCG test and they called the next day to say that my levels were low for 6 weeks (1100) but that they were ok for 5 weeks and that I should come back 2 days later on Wednesday for another beta. The second beta only rose to 1529, which is about a 40% increase but not the 55%+ increase that the doctor's office was looking for. They had me come back in on Thursday for an emergency ultrasound to confirm that the pregnancy wasn't ectopic (which it wasn't) but they couldn't quite see the gestational sac in the uterus either. They have me coming back in tomorrow for another beta to see what happens to my levels. Has anybody had slow-to-rise levels and still had a viable pregnancy? I just feel so helpless sitting around and waiting and I can't get the nurse practitioner's words out of my head that this "just might not be a good pregnancy"...
