Is there a sizable living area in the basement also so that it feels more like living in your own space except for the kitchen vs living *with* other people. I'd give it a shot! I broke it down with my sister and that is how i came up with how much I would be saving. That's a tough one! $2500 a month savings would be awesome, but 2-3 years is a long time. My suggestion is to factor all the moving expenses and the misc home maintenance you'll eventually spend on your dad's place, then see if that number each month will still be worth the trouble. With 2 families, utilities would be a little more as well (even if it's a shared expense). He doesnt exactly love bay ridge but LOVES our babysitter and his commute to work is only 30 mins</p> <p>DD loves my sister and her family. she has a son that is 3 months older than her. We visit them pretty much every weekend. We will be saving a lot of money living in my father's house with my sister and her family. My dad is leaving the state and moving to FL. The neighborhood is okay, its up and coming but doesnt have a huge family presence like my current neighborhood. I'm so torn with moving. </p> <p>Our current neighborhood is wonderful. Its safe, very family friendly and we love our babysitter. She lives one building away from us and DD loves her whole family and they love her too. </p> <p>What would you do?</p> <p>DD is 6 months old right now if that makes a difference and we live about 30-45 minutes away from my family with traffic. DH's family is about 2 hours away</p> <p>We would be saving about 2500 a month </p>
