I am trying this- last month was my first cycle on progesterone. I am taking progesterone 200mg vaginally at bedtime once I confirm O, then testing at 14DPO. If negative, I stop the progesterone, and AF came a few days later. The tough thing is that even if that is the issue, it might take a few months to work. TTC is so frustrating!

@Snowdrop: is bring it up. It's a definite possibility. My re told me (because I asked the same thing) that if ovulation were strong enough and my other hormones (cd 3) we're where they needed to be, that P would straighten itself out during the LP. So, he explained it as an issue with O rather than just a P issue.

I tried one or two months taking progesterone to lengthen my luteal phase (I ovulate on my own), but it didn't really work. The first time I took Clomid to give me stronger ovulation coupled with progesterone after ovulation I got my BFP.

@swedishfish: yes, the numbers were great.

@CupQuakeWalk: My LP is 12 days but my progesterone levels are very low all the way through it. So my endometrium isn't lutenising as it should causing me to have 5-7 days of brown spotting after AF.

I started taking progesterone for a short LP (7-9 days), and got my BFP the same month (first bfp too).
For me, I think it did help b/c I didn't get a positive test until 11DPO, where normally I would have started my period before then. But I can't say for certain progesterone was the only reason that was my lucky month.

I would think it is possible that low P could be an issue! I know NaPro is big on watching P levels, and I definitely think that p supplements helped me to stay pregnant once I got my bfp. Not sure about getting a bfp in the first place, but it seems reasonable, if there are no other issues to deal with.

Has anyone had success just by taking progesterone in their LP without ever having a BFP before.

I've been thinking, since I definitely ovulate maybe the egg is being fertilised but not getting the chance to implant due to a hostile, low progesterone environment...
