I had two who measured ahead and big and were overdue and average 8.5-9lbs. My other baby measured behind, was also overdue but was 9.5 lbs. You never know.

With DS1 I measured ahead most of the pregnancy. At 37 weeks I had an ultrasound and they estimated he would be about 7lbs. He was born 38w1d and was 9lbs 5oz! This was spontaneous labour.

DS2 I measured ahead and my OB guessed he would be 8lbs. He was born via emergency csection at 36w6d and was 8lbs 3oz.

I seem to make big babies!!

I was sent for a growth scan at 37 weeks because my belly was measuring small. The ultrasound estimate put DD at 7.5 lbs that day. The tech kept talking about how big she was and even kissed me (and yes, it was weird). I delivered at 41 weeks expecting about a 9.5lb baby. She was 6lb 10oz.

I measured 2-3 weeks ahead for most of my pregnancy. DD was born at 36 weeks 6 days because I started leaking amniotic fluid. She was 7lbs 15oz.

Ultrasound measurements can be really off so I would take it with a grain of salt anyway! But if anything probably a bigger baby, doesn’t mean it will come early!

@cyoung: no, at this point, it just means he’s big. Or actually, it doesn’t even necessarily mean that lol. My third baby was measuring 7(!) weeks ahead because of his long arms and legs At one point

LO measured 2 weeks big for a good while. They expected her to be "over 8 lbs" which didn't sound horrible to me, but, whatever lol She came at 39 weeks 1 day and weighed 7 lbs 11 oz.

Thanks ladies! I'm sure she'll just be big then. My daughter was 8lbs 10oz and she was my second baby. We went in for a other 4d a week later after the 30 week scan and my baby was looking bigger and more squished. It was a differnt tech and she said she was pretty chunky for her gestation. Knowing my luck I'll still go over and have an almost 10lbs baby. I honestly just assumed that at first. It wasn't till a friend of mine said he son was the same and came early that I thought of that outcome. I guess we will see :) just a little less then 8 weeks left.

Just that the baby is measuring larger than the average. No way to determine or predict spontaneous labor. Ultrasounds are notoriously inaccurate measures after early pregnancy anyway.

I wouldn't worry about it yet. My son was projected to be 12ish lbs at birth, but at each follow-up ultrasound, that estimate went down. He ended up weighing a little over 8lbs.
ETA: My doc's office never used language like "measuring ahead" so I'm not sure if that was an issue

My son's head and long bones were measuring about 4-5 weeks ahead depending on the week from 32 weeks on. My amniotic fluid was measuring 4-5 weeks ahead also due to polyhydraminos. Although I had a planned c section at 39w2d, I was not effaced or diallated at all, his head was too big to engage from what I remember. He had no intentions of coming anytime soon the day I had him.

So when I went in at 30 weeks for an ultrasound baby girl was measuing 32 weeks. She was already 4lbs. Nurse said I was measuring ahead. Does this just mean big baby or is there a chance baby will come a bit ealry? I was curious if other ladies had this happen and what the outcome was. My other kids always measured on time.
