@mrs. tictactoe: we have that same wagon. charlie couldn't use it as well as his other walkers at 9 months, but he sure loved riding in it! it wasn't until he was closer to 1 i think that he was able to walk with it. it was easier for him to use the melissa and doug alligator and little tykes shopping cart.

the radio flyer is really well made though and will last a long time. olive loves it now!

@mrs. tictactoe : I think the walker you posted about is actually too tall for a 9 month old to try to stand and push. If you look at the picture here, it is a full sized toddler pushing the toy. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11776595 .That is why it is probably suggested for 2-4 yr old. Also, it appaers to comes with a mallet and "scratcher", which sound like choking hazards to me. Some of the other choices that have been mentioned sound better suited to a 9 month old! We liked the leapfrog learning tables a lot. Plastic, but hours of enjoyment :-)

@mrs. tictactoe: I have that walker and I bought it when LO was around 9-months... she STILL plays with it to this day and she's almost 2. Nowadays, she likes pushing around her stuffed animals in it too. The only problem is that she can't really turn it very well on her own so I have to help her with that, but it is a beautiful wagon that your LO should be able to grow into.

those recommendations are way off. what would a 2 year old have to do with a walker? a nice wooden walker is a great gift for a 9 month old. Charlie started using his around that age. There is one from Haba or Plan Toys or Melissa and Doug!

as far as the activity cubes, they're great but a 9 month old is definitely too young for one. i don't really think they're choking hazards anyway.

@mrs. tictactoe: hmm...interesting. I just searched for wooden activity cube on amazon and found that one (I liked the hexagonal shape). My LO (who is 8 months) plays with these cubes at playgroups and I haven't noticed any removable parts that would be a choking hazard. The ones that he's played with are more like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Alex-Busy-Town-Activity-Center/dp/B004LL0VV2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1351795742&sr=8-5&keywords=wooden+activity+cube

I've actually seen a farm version at Costco (although I am in Canada) for $50!

@mrs. tictactoe: I would suggest something similar to sammyfab. All the kids I nannied LOVED those activity center type toys; there has to be one that is safe because honestly I don't know any 3 year old that still likes those things.

what the heck - that totally looks like something you could let a 9 mos old use!! He will be standing and walking along furniture so I think it's perfect. My nephew LOVES the push along walkers, similar to that one. I say get it :)

I'm a huge fan of these wooden activity cubes:
http://www.amazon.com/Maxim-EverEarth-Garden-Activity-Cube/dp/B0055BEAKK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1351795214&sr=8-2&keywords=wooden+activity+cube

They're great for sitters and slanders and every side has something new and fun to play with!

We have the fisher price learning table and I bought it used. There are a gazillion of them that you can buy second-hand so it's not something I would recommend buying new.

Our LO is not quite 8 months and I got her a few Melissa and Doug toys that are for older kiddo's that she loves already. The Crocodile walker, she plays with the crocs while sitting down, and the stacking train and blocks are all lots of fun right now even if it's just knocking them over so I can pick them back up! I like that they are wood toys and that she can grow with them for a long time.

Liam will almost be 9 months old at Christmas and I want to get him a special toy for under the tree. I was thinking something like this: http://www.amazon.com/RJ-Quality-Products-Imaginarium-Activity/dp/B005NJTMSO/ref=sr_1_62?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1351794380&sr=1-62&keywords=walker but it says 2 years and up. Any ideas for something similar that's good for a 9 month old, but that he can grow into? I like the idea of an activity table with removable legs that he can use pre-standing, but I'm not a fan of huge plastic toys.
