I found they usually need to be a little older for Barbies unless they have older sisters. (There is a pretty big price gap between the two gifts though.) I want to get her something, since I'm sure it'll be a big adjustment for her. And she loooves attention, so sharing the spotlight might be rough for awhile. I think you'd have to be a little older to appreciate American Girl dolls--those things are so expensive!
