We have a trailer which DH uses with his bike (I'm still too unsteady due to a childhood biking accident). DD loved it and we are looking forward to taking both her and DS for rides this summer on a local bike trail.

I use a trailer and bike extensively. I love it, and feel very safe. We bike on roads near exclusively, which is easy to do in our bike friendly city. I'd try a trailer on your bike before buying one, it is more work for sure.

Ah so many choices.

We would only bike in our subdivision to the park (so, very minimal traffic). Or we would drive to a nearby park!

I know she will like biking a lot, though! She's a fan of anything that makes her hair blow around :)

Seat behind! But it totally depends on where you are going. We live in a city, so I would not feel comfortable with a trailer even though it is pretty bike friendly here.

@blackbird: Yep, i'm 5'3 and was riding with LO when she was 16-18 months old. My only issue is that the seat will affect your cycling (your knees will go out a bit). I actually commuted with LO to work (30 minutes) and it was nice because i could adjust her scarf, talk/sing to her, point out cars and other cyclists, etc. But i know the front seat isn't for everyone. The trailer is a great option as well, and safer in accidents since the impact won't be as great.

I've ridden with my son in a trailer, but I am not comfortable with that for use on roads with cars. I like a trailer because I feel like my center isn't affected when I am riding.

@freckles, can you see around her well? It looks so awkward to have a front seat and then to try to be peering around her to steer the bike. Thanks for the site recommendaiton!

We use the wee ride kangaroo seat, and love it. A lot of people love the ibert and yeppi as well.

I'm a big fan of the front seat, because you can interact with your LO a lot better than the rear seat or trailer.

A great source i used when riding a bike with my LO: http://simplybikeblog.com/?page_id=8058

E will be 1 in April and DH and I like to bike. We haven't been able to do it much since having her, but I would love to start again this spring/summer.

If you bike, what have you found to be the best way to take LO with you? A trailer? A seat behind one of you? I feel like she would enjoy the latter best. There's a trail from our subdivision to a park near the house that we like to frequent.
