@Freckles: we had almost the opposite problem- my LO wouldn't take the helmet off at the store- like we went to the playground after and she played for an hour wearing it. Then when it came time to ride she gave us trouble. But yes t helps when she sees us wearing them too. Now when she sees someone biking without one she points t out and I have to say they forgot and are going home to get it now.

You can actually have babies in a trailer before 1 years old if you use an infant sling (shouldn't be wearing a helmet when in the sling). https://www.thule.com/en-us/ca/products/active-with-kids/bike-trailers-and-seats/bike-trailer-and-seat-accessories/thule-infant-sling-_-20101000

I used the weeride with my DD from 15 months until recently at 3.5. I love the close proximity to her, and talking to her about our surroundings while biking. I commuted to and from downtown with her and had no problems being on the road.

I was going to buy a chariot trailer this summer but DH and I were still going back and forth on which one to buy (cougar vs cx2). A lot of friends find a double trailer to be pretty difficult to manouever.

At first DD did not want to try on the helmet (at the store). But once she saw DH and I put ours on she was all for it. She knows the rules - no helmet, no bike.

Like others, I wouldn't recommend biking with baby until 1.

We have the iBert and it's been awesome! We also have a bike trailer, but I much prefer the iBert for ages 1-2.5ish.

We have a seat that sits on the front between the seat and the handlebar. I know you're not supposed to use it before a year. I feel more comfortable that way - being able to see him - than towing him behind, and he loves it, he begs to "go on big bike" pretty much every day.

This is what we have: http://www.amazon.com/iBert-Safe-T-Front-Mounted-Bicycle/dp/B000H4E7EO

We don't have a trailer, we use a bike seat...but LO absolutely LOVES it and always has. She begs to go on rides. No issues with her wearing her helmet.

We have a trailer and my Lo really likes it now. We didn't start until she was almost two, because we got it for Christmas and it didn't warn up until she was that age. I think it's safe from about a year. We only ride on paved trails with it and it only goes on DH's bike because it would make me too nervous!

It took a little time for her to start liking it. Like, we started with riding her around a parking lot. For her first real ride lots of special snacks helped keep her happy, and based in the rote we usually take, we usually had an ice cream treat towards the end. These helped really make the whole thing positive for her. She always wears a helmet in the trailer (we will stop completely if she pulls it off). To make it more comfortable we ended up loosening the shoulder straps a bit and putting a folded towel behind her back, otherwise the back of the helmet pushed her head too far forward and I think it was uncomfortable. There is a brand out there that's better in terms of a flatter back but I didn't buy that one and can't remember the name.

It's a really fun activity for my toddler and her dad to do. I hope yours have fun too!

Well I found this old thread that answers some of my questions :) http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/when-to-start-biking-with-baby

Guess I should have searched! But if anyone else has any other comments, I'm all ears....

DH loves to bike. At some point we'd like to get an attachment for the back of his bike so he can ride with LO, like, the little trailer style...? That brings up some questions:

1) When is it "safe" to ride with baby?
2) What are some good product recommendations?
3) Any tips for making it a fun enjoyable experience for both?
