I would do it before you go into labor, because I was in a lot of pain down there afterwards, for about 3 weeks. I wouldn't even think of trying to put a razor, much less wax, down there until I felt better. It would be much better to have it already taken care of before the baby comes.

@winniebee: I got an electric razor with a trimmer--so it's like... 3 weeks out from a wax. And I can't accidentally cut myself, or get razor burn.
I am so not up for a wax at this point.

@krsmall: Yeah, see what your OB says, but that is super extreme. That would have driven me nuts to not groom at all for that long. Yick.

@LivsMama: That makes me feel better! I'll definitely confirm with my OB, but I'd rather not stop shaving/waxing.

Definitely yes! I was really glad I did because I ended up having a c-section and if you're not waxed they shave you! (Then growth + scar= ewww)

I had a brazilian like two weeks before I gave birth. I was really glad I'd done it, because it took many months for me to feel like I had the time and motivation to go back for another one after the birth!

@krsmall: @winniebee: I never heard that. My nuring crew went in before my section to "clean it up" for the surgery and said "oh wow, you did a good job, no work needed!" They actually encouraged me to try to keep it maintaned if that is how I normally kept it

I'm with @Highwire . . . I plan to do as much *prep* pre-delivery as possible, including a bikini wax. Since these are things I do regularly, I just want to feel like myself (and prepared, if that makes sense) as much as possible.

I got an email from my hospital and they said to refrain from grooming "down there" as of 32 weeks. I guess there is some risk of infection. I'm really bummed because I know it will bother me not being "tidy."

if you think it's something you would want to have done in the weeks after giving birth, i'd go ASAP. maybe use some numbing spray if you can, as i'd imagine you have increased sensation down there right now & if you haven't had it done in a long time there are a LOT more hairs to rip out than just when you go in to maintain.

Is it bad that I'm thinking needing the wax more for putting on a bathing suit in July rather than sexy time with DH? LOL.

I'd get one ASAP, especially if it's something you will think about at all while in labor, and wish you had done. I just had one done a few days ago at 36+ and it was a little more painful than usual, which my waxing lady said was normal. The pain was only a little bit worse, so, no big deal really. I also got my legs done too, so I don't have to worry about shaving those post-birth.

I think I would wait and get one when you're fully healed and feeling ready for sexy time again. Then you'll feel your best. Maybe you could get one of your parents to watch the lo while you get it done?

Speaking of grooming...I did a blind groom this weekend. OMG, not being able to see what you are doing is really challenging!!

I tried to get a bikini wax once and the pain was just too much. I think you should do whatever is going to make you comfortable during & after the birth. I would think that you won't have time for quite awhile once he's here.

I'm too scared to ever get one done! But even if I did, I think I'd want to wait. I let myself go down there because I couldn't see it so I was scared to hurt myself, and really you won't want to have sexy time until a while after birth anyway.

Id get one now. I had a c-section. so I didnt have trauma, but trying to find time to do anything after a baby seems daunting. Get it over with. And since its not your first wax, dont worry about the "increased sensitivity" during pregnancy portion of it. you are used to it :)

Since I was on bedrest for 7 weeks, I have not get a chance to get one in like 12 weeks (this is my method of grooming). Not that I care about how I look for the birth, but I know I'll be busy afterwards with a newborn and no idea when I'll feel up to getting one with all the trauma down there.

So, would you bother at this point or just get one afterwards once things are healed down there?
