@sckim: With both my kids I had bleeding every 12-14 days on the mini pill like you described. With DS1 I didn't do anything and it continued like that until I weaned 9 months later. With DS2 my period didn't come back until 10 months so I just quit taking the pill and decided to use NFP until he was weaned. And then I didn't get a period for a full 2.5 months later. Internet research led me to believe that the mini pill was tricking my body into bleeding, even though I wasn't ovulating yet. I don't personally have any experience with mirena or other breastfeeding safe birth control. But I do think this kind of reaction to the minipill is common.

@sckim: I had a c section too, and I have always felt cheated that my period came back so fast even while EBF.

@agold: I had a csection. Bleeding from csection completely stopped by 1 week postpartum and was light and brown by the end. I had terrible PMS symptoms the day before i started my actual period and it was bright red and heavy.

@sckim: I can’t answer your question, but I’m surprised how you knew your period started at 3.5 weeks post partum. I’m at 4 weeks postpartum and I still haven’t stopped the regular post-partum bleeding.

It's a pretty tiny scar on the inside of your arm, but my husband gets terrible keloids too so I get what you're saying. I attached a picture of where my doctor took mine out just over a year ago.

@Sams Mom: ive seen the ads for nexplanon but i get pretty bad keloids so was concerned about that. i got a small superficial cut when i fell 4 years ago and it left a keloid. and my csection scar is huge and raised.

I had the nexplanon put in at my 6 week appointment. I bled 3 weeks postpartum, had a week off, then had a regular period. I EBF with very very little supplementing (would pump if he got a bottle of formula). I had wonky periods for a bit, but then I didn't have one for 6 months with Nexplanon, then when I did get one it was 5 days every 4-6 weeks. It was kind of annoying getting the surprise period, but it worked well for me the 1 year I had it in before TTC #2.

I had my DD2 3 months ago and started my period 3.5wks postpartum. I am EBF now but did supplement for about 2-3 weeks the first month while trying to get my supply up. I bled for 3 weeks with my initial period and have now had a period every 12-14 days. its miserable. My periods are lighter than before, but i still get PMS symptoms that are terrible. I also have endometriosis. I started the mini pill 2 months ago hoping that would help, but it hasnt.

Does anyone have any experience with EBF and taking a different BCP? Should I try the mirena? I know the mirena uses the same hormones as the mini pill. I don't want to put the mirena in and regret it.
