@simplyfelicity: @LovelyPlum: It brings me such peace to know that. Mama S and I figured this out during the NICU stay... When we did, I cried. All the suffering and pain that we both went through made so much sense after that.

@LovelyPlum: I was chatting with my OB yesterday and sharing the story with her. She said that if the device is not placed correctly in the uterus, there is a vanishingly small but non-zero chance that a pregnancy could survive.

I just can't get over the fact that he was conceived about a week after I miscarried, despite those odds. I feel like we were frantic to find each other-his little soul and mine!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: congratulations!!

@Mrs. Jacks: slightly off topic, but I didn't realize IUD pregnancies could be viable! I just sorta assumed that they wouldn't be. Add another layer to Theo's amazing story!

My brother beat an IUD. My niece and nephew were both conceived despite SiL being "on the pill", though I haven't asked about how faithfully she was taking it. There were some rumblings about Oktoberfest bearing some responsibility for my niece, so . . . :silly:

@Foodnerd81: Oh, it's definitely not the best option for everyone. I would never counsel someone that's not very responsible, and in a committed relationship with a man they trust to use it. It definitely requires some self-control on his part. We actually got pregnant this time because DH decided not to at the last minute, but he knew I was ready to start TTC and we were just waiting on him, so it was fine.

@Torchwood: I think the problem with pull out C's condoms is the user error is much higher and it's entirely in the guy, where with condoms, the woman knows if he's wearing one or not, you know? Not saying it's not a good option for some.

@coopsmama: @Rainbow Sprinkles: @FaithFertility: Condoms are only 95% effective when used correctly. I don't know if that takes into account breakage, but there's still always going to be a chance that there are small defects that allow sperm through, even if you can't see it. Sperm are tiny, and it only takes one! Pull-out is actually 97% effective if used correctly, so despite its bad rap it's better than condoms. The catch is that condoms are easier to use correctly. But we used pull-out for 8 years with no accidents, then got pregnant in 1 try 3 times and 2 tries once, so clearly it was working.

@FaithFertility: yep. I didn't even find out I was KU until I was more than 6 weeks along (I gues that's still early, but I found out at 8 DPO with my others) becuase I did not even think it was a remote possibility. I tested because I randomly started throwing up and had a test on hand. To say I was blindsided is an understatement!

What's even crazier is that with my EDD, I would have had to have gotten pregnant during the week I was on my period (which we didn't DTD during that time). So, the whole situation is a mystery. Not sure when or how it happened!

My understanding is the mini pill is far more sensitive to the timing then regular pills.

Nuva Ring isn't on here but I know a few ring babies too. The ring supposedly has less room for error because there isn't any timing. The main concern is it falling out. But I think there's a big window for it being out and I can't imagine it falling out much other then maybe during sex.

I didn't like how Nuva ring messed up my period for 4 months when I was only on it 2.
