My plan will include only the "if cesarean is necessary" part b/c if for some reason I transfer I WILL be having a cesarean (the hospitals here do not allow VBACs.</p> <p>I got this from another mom but it covers just about everything I'd want so here's a look:</p> <p>•C-SECTION<br /> Will only be performed as an absolute emergency last resort. (ie. they must get in there and get baby out ASAP, none of this "oh, we will prep you and have him out before the end of the hour).<br /> Husband is to be with me at all times during procedure.<br /> After baby is pulled out, husband is to be with him at all times.<br /> If possible, try to bring placenta out so that cord clamping/cutting can be delayed. If that's not possible, at least try for 1 minute delay.<br /> •POST DELIVERY (baby)<br /> Baby placed immediately on my chest.<br /> No tests until after first feeding/golden hour.<br /> No Vitamin K shot<br /> No eye ointment<br /> Do not bath baby<br /> Baby exclusively breastfed- no formula, no bottle, no pacifier, no sugar water.<br /> All exams to be done in either my or my husbands presence.</p> <p>And I will be screaming for Skin to Skin IN the O.R. I'd also make a contingency plan in case of a hospital transfer (requests in case of c-section like having screen up or down, seeing baby asap, eye drops, etc).<br /> That said, I'm a big planner. The first went well, the second she had to transfer to the hospital. She did not have a birth plan for the first in the interest of being completely trusting that the birth would happen at home. We never shared it with our midwife...we kind of just made it for us, just in case. We ended up in the hospital but didn't bring the birth plan with us. We will be going to a birthing center about 30-45 min away from my home to deliver naturally (med-free).
