It looks similar to mine! The only thing I would suggest is seeing if you can find out standard practices at your hospital. My MW kind of laughed when I put "no episiotomy" and said they hadn't been done routinely in years.

You might want to be more blunt and say "please do not announce the baby's sex."

Looks good!

@Mrs. Jacks: Ok, will definitely add the pain meds thing, then. Thanks! I appreciate your opinion since I remember an old post of yours about how these birth plans can be perceived by the medical team, so glad you think mine isn't too much.

I had a short one, though we never needed to pull it out (my OB was in call the night I delivered).

The main thing your team cares about is your preferences around pain meds, so definitely include that!

@bushelandapeck: Yes, I'm a bit apprehensive about how DD will handle baby's arrival, too. She loves babies in general, I'm just not sure how she'll feel about having one 24/7 at home. That's so great you will have one of each!
@Foodnerd81: Maybe I'll add something like that, or just change the wording from "natural" birth to "med-free".

@Chastenet: my plan for my first was pretty similar. I did have a note that I didn't want an epidural and please don't offer, let me bring it up, unless they thought it would help (something along those lines). I don't really think it was necessary since like you, I was seen by midwives who were used to natural births anyway.

@Chastenet: definitely less exciting :) I'm 21.5w. More than halfway and it's gone by so fast compare to #1. I'm anxious already about how DS will adjust to a new baby and feeling so behind that I haven't started to plan for her room, etc. I can't wait to find out what you're having!

@bushelandapeck: Thanks! I know, I would say it's gone by quickly, but it kind of hasn't :) I've found pregnancy to be much less exciting the 2nd time around! How are you doing? More than half way there now, right?

@T.H.O.U.: I thought about including that. It probably wouldn't hurt to have one more bullet point, I was just trying to keep it really short and sweet.

I am 39w1d and had to go in to ob triage the other day for a non-stress test (all is well) - while there, the nurse asked me if I had a birth plan. I did not, I'm being seen by a hospital-based midwife team and this is my second baby so I didn't see the necessity.
Being asked about a birth plan prompted me to write up a quick list of what's important to me. Please share your thoughts - am I missing anything big? Should I bother sharing this list with the l & d team?

Birth Plan

Goal: Our goal is to have as natural a birth as possible. We do understand that circumstances may warrant certain medical interventions, but it is our wish that any such intervention be discussed with us beforehand so that we may make an informed decision.

While in labor I would like to:
* be able to move freely
* use intermittent monitoring
* be allowed to let things take a natural course, even if that means a very long labor
* use the ABC room if it is available

During delivery I would like to:
* assume whatever position is most comfortable for birthing and most efficient
* I prefer to tear than have an episiotomy

After delivery I would like to:
* have immediate and prolonged skin to skin contact with the baby, weighing, washing, dressing can all be done later
* please allow the umbilical cord to finish pulsating before clamping
* my husband would like to cut the cord
* we do not know the baby’s sex, please let us discover on our own

Baby’s care:
* If baby is a boy, we do NOT wish for him to be circumcised
* I will be breastfeeding, please do not supplement under any circumstances
