@locavore_mama: it's two totally separate ideas. Just going out at the same time! Next year I'm doing Christmas cards earlier and we won't be having a big birthday to-do!

What about modifying your holiday card to be adaptable as a invitation. And those who are invited will get a combo holiday/bday invitation? Others just a regular holiday card?

I voted electronically. Paperless Post had some really nice ones. But I'm thinking of a laid back affair. If it's a bigger deal, the invites should match that tone.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @Andrea: everyone who is invited to the party is also being sent a christmas card, but i feel like if i mail them out, then separately is the way to go!

Printed. I hate responding electronically for some reason and always put it off. But I receive so few fun things in the mail that I always welcome cute invites and respond right away. :-)

Can you stick the holiday card and bday invite into the same envelope for the 30 people?

Trying to nail down the date and time for R's birthday party in January so we can get invitations out. Since we're likely sending out our Christmas cards in the next 2-3 weeks and need to get her invitations out around the same time, I'm wondering if it's overkill to do two mailed cards. I like print so much and I'm leaning toward that but then doing something online for her birthday is appealing so I'm not lickin envelopes, hand writing addresses, and adding postage twice.

We usually send 80-100 Christmas cards (huge extended family!) and we have about 30 birthday invites to send. I would design an invitation either way, just a matter of delivery.
