Thanks everyone! I was in a panic the last couple of days with so much to get done. We tried a couple of pizza places and none of them would accommodate us because we weren't going to order enough to justify opening earlier! We ended up doing chicken nuggets as the kid meal and that was enough with the other food we had.

Hot dogs or sausages would definitely work fine. Spring for the good kind, maybe even let them simmer in beer and onions like brats.

http://www.ayearofslowcooking.com/2012/04/hot-dogs-for-crowd.html

Or you can make a huge crockpot of meatballs with sauce and let people make meatball subs topped with shredded cheese. That's basically like pizza. You can even put out sauteed mushrooms, onions, and peppers, olives, pepperoni slices, etc.

If you go buy pita bread or flatbreads, the kids can make a Lunchables-style pizza. They spread with sauce, top with cheese and toppings, and scarf down.

If you have a chick-fil-a nearby they do a great chicken nugget platter... you could even pick it up the day before

Couple of ideas:

Make pizza dip in the crockpot, have some different breads, breadsticks and crackers and things to dip. Serve with green salad and the other stuff you’ve mentioned will be there.

What about mac and cheese? If you cooked it that morning in a big roasting type pan, it would keep warm (enough) for several hours sitting out on a table. Could pair with hot dogs in the crockpot to stay warm.

Maybe do a sandwich bar instead of getting premade deli sandwiches? Lay out cold cuts, some chicken salad, veggies, couple types of presliced cheeses and condiments. Pair with a couple of types of pasta salad (maybe a traditional mayo-based macaroni salad and something like a cold pesto pasta salad).

@freckles: oh Ya, I totally forgot...We had this come up for LO 1's 2nd bday party. The pizza place was able to accommodate us but they didn't have a delivery person that early so we sent BIL to pick up at 11! Our party was from 10:30-12 and people started eating at 11:15.

I was going to mention hot dogs since you said crock pot. Easy to keep warm and not too messy unless the condiments get a bit crazy. Depending on how many pizzas you're ordering, I wonder if you can call them and see if they can have your order ready at 11am. I know some places are pretty accommodating when they know it's for a party and you order a sufficient amount.

The deli sandwiches as the main entree is decent pizza substitute. Besides pretzels as the crispy, salty snack you could serve potato chips. Or what about a kid-friendly cold pasta salad?

DD's 3rd birthday party is this weekend, and we were planning on keeping the food simple by ordering pizzas for lunch. Because it's at a venue with only 2 hours (10-12) allotted to us, we have to serve pizza at 11am. Unfortunately, all the pizza places open at 11am and the earliest they will get us the pizzas is at 11:30am.

I now have to think of another menu for the party. So far we are going to have fruit platter, veggie platter, pretzels, deli sandwiches from an Italian store.

Any ideas for additional food items? Nothing too messy but would appeal to kids/adults. The only warming device i have is a crock pot. There will be about 27 kids (7 are under 1 years old) and 20 adults. Muffins? Bagels? Hot dogs?
